The last census, carried out in March 2011, showed a fall in the number of people that call themselves Christian in the UK.
Christian numbers in England and Wales, including children, fell by 4.1 million in a decade to 33.2 million.
However there was a 45 per cent rise over the same 10 years in numbers who say they have no religion, to 14.1 million."

There are two possible conclusions to draw here if intelligence is related to atheism.
1) The intelligence of the people of England and Wales went up by the same percentage points during those same 10 years
(not likely); or
2) the studies are not really measuring what they claim to be.

I wonder, will this "study" turn out as wrong as the one done with race? It was once believed that white people scored higher on IQ tests than those of Blacks, ergo the conclusion was that Whites are smarter than blacks. This is of course absurd. Studies can be done in a number of ways to have outcomes skewed to produce the desired outcome. athiests,have better IQ,cos they work for the Devil,and Fallowing GODs commands they cannot handle.That is where there IQ, drops.way Low.They are NOT smart,they are foolish.its OK when there time comes they will find out how blind they were.I dont feel sorry for them.GODBless America.

This is probably the same reasoning as they use when they take polls. It all depends on the wording of the question as to what kind of answer you get. Just remember the last time that the atheist gets to answer that question they will be standing in front of "I AM" and it will be a no brainer at that time. The trouble is it also won't count then. Even Satan believes in God and trembles, while the fool has said in his heart there is no God.

Do I understand you correctly, you are saying that a person who has no belief in God has belief, and thereby, work for the devil? In order to work or be apart of a worker/employee relationship, both have to be real. Strictly speaking, an atheists does not believe in any type of gods, whether high or low. There is no coloration between being an atheists and having lack of values, morals, or ethics. The topic is not about atheists as a view on eternal life, it is simply do they have higher IQs.

Before you misunderstand and think that I too am an atheist, I assure you that I have a firm unshakable belief in God.

Another possible reason is the huge flood of Muslims, thousands a week flooding into the UK. None of which are Christians, the study should have asked how many are Muslims, dedicated to the destruction of Western Culture! But THAT RESULT wasn't wanted.....they only wanted to feel themselves superior!

Surveys, statistics, and probably even census taking, is not to be taken so seriously as irrefutable. Any or all can be manipulated to show the results sought by the manipulator.
I do not dismiss them completely, but don't assume them to be the "gospel". I remain highly skeptical.

It would be interesting to test athiests and believers in all areas to see which category of smarts each score high in. This may go a ways in explaining the tendency to accept or reject the belief in God.

I have found that people who put great stock in textbook only intelligence tend to be very insecure and unable to do anything but regurgitate trivia taught by others. Intelligence is much more then that and this study is just another closed minded attempt to discard religion. It appears that the work has turned on who and what constitutes open minded ness these days.

Thank you rumitoid, that is exactly what I was going to say. Atheist: "Let's all take a test on something we know we are good at, and when we score higher than Christians, we will claim we are more intelligent than they are."
They figured know one would figure out that there are more ways to measure intelligence. So, maybe they aren't as smart as they think they are after all.

Back to my wonderful cousin. I will have to call him this afternoon and ask him how he managed his higher level degrees. Apparently during his work on these degrees he tossed out his firm belief on God. His poor wife must immediately be demoted from her excellent job. It is going to be a shock for their two progeny to have to cease work on their higher level degrees, because of their strong commitment to faith and active church life, makes them unqualified to pursue this education.

I will not bother with my usual long pedantic and verbose adjectives and just say, DRIVEL!
