Actually, it does make sense. There are individuals who have an affinity for hearing languages and being able to learn them only through hearing them. It is somewhat to an individual who plays music by ear. It has NOTHING to do with intelligence, as medically defined.

Simply because an individual's parents may have a higher intelligence level is no guarantee such genetic traits will be passed on. There are recessive genetic codes which may come forth.
Could you provide us of the proof of your allegation. At NO time have any of his scholastic grades, course list, etc. been available. A degree is no proof of basic common sense abilities.

I did fairly well in school, B-, but I can play any instrument by ear as well as reading music. I learned to play the cello in school and held first chair in my jr high and high school years.
