The Senior Executive Service (SES)

Having actively watched the initiation of SES from the viewpoint of a GAO Auditor in the late 1970's, the purpose of which was to provided educated oversight over "less educated" Civil Servants, I was and am horrified to see this "educated but untrained" hoard assume the control within the executive branch, then spread throughout our governmental structures.
Armed with no experience outside Acadamia, these "elete" armed with Master and PHD degrees, were and are nonetheless not hesitant in putting forth their liberal theories into law. I am in full agreement with the respected statistician, William M. Briggs who stated: " The love of theory is the root of all evil" !! You can now understand my interest in propaganda.

How true but common sense is is not based on theory but on experience.

Indeed, and you will find both sides of that exemplified here in OPP. We have a lot of theory but very little common sense that comes from experience. We do, however, have some really neat people which gives me some hope for our (country's) future.

I bumped into a couple of those SES types while on overseas tours in Naples and Yokosuka. Highly suspicious program.

The quote under your last response was most interesting. We are all defined by our loves as love is the essence of our being; hence love of power is not necessarily evil if sought to carry out good uses. I agree that love of power is dangerous as many (if not most) good people who enter politics are soon lured by the power of position over how it may be used for good.
