Could they be preparing for a revolution they fear from their employers?

I don't know. Big Sis bought about 15,000 of those long guns before she resigned and moved to leaner heaven.
Why do citizens need anything more than a musket?

To equalize the playing field with an oppressive Government.

You have explained it quite well to JKT and I bet he comes back with another fool question.
If IRS agents who used to be people who audited tax reforms and like that need weapons there is something going on and the playing field has been unleveled by Big Sis and her ammo and weapons orders. Isn't it a good thing to have her moved out to leaner heaven (Mexifornia)?

I don't blame you but I have never actually put anyone but one on real no answer. That one was just a foul mouthed bastard who said some things about others' wives and daughters that just didn't fit. I had him on ignore with 26 different names on one forum. Sometimes he made it back when they kicked him out in less that a day and went right back to his old ways.

I haven't locked them out. I just refuse to respond to them any longer.

I have used that, what I call, personal ignore many times but sometimes I just can't keep it going.

Except that is not the purpose of the 2nd Amendment. No government can grant or recognize a right to engage in armed rebellion against it and maintain its sovereignty.

These are not the AR-15's that we know out here these are a new form of calculator that is beyond the common individuals comprehension. And those little things that look like bullets are really batteries that download quickly into the main battery on board the AR-15. So in reality they are just scary looking calculators and we should all forget that we ever saw them. In fact I thought that I saw an article here these were not the average AR-15 but the fully auto version as well. Now the fully auto AR-15 calculator can do 30 peoples taxes in just a couple of seconds and can do somewhere around 750 to 900 peoples taxes in one minute, scary right.

Is it we the people who are a sovereign nation, or just the government?

Very humorous but pretty scary, at the same time. This is the kind of thing they tell us all the time.
Perhaps. The IRS understands that (Next to Obama, and a few other of his dolts) that they are the most hated.
Then extend that knowledge that if there were a uprising, they could not really count on our military to defend them from the rampaging hoards. The members of the military have been rampaged against by the IRS, as much as the civilian population.
Then extend that fear to their defensive plan which would make each IRS building into a fortress by itself. A fortress where the employees would be armed to the teeth and defending their very existence and pay checks.
Bang, bang. "Watch out for the claymores" -- Take that you "waskel wabbit" and be prepared for an audit next month.
Does that make you shudder?
