I guess freedom of speech means nothing unless you agree with the political establishment and the national media. In this story that is surely the case.

Freedom of speech in this country is beginning to look like the North Korean army walking in front of the parade stands and calling it a nice walk in the park by North Koreans on the to a picnic. It's called political correctness to the max. I personally am getting so sick of it I could throw up. It makes one feel like writing every non politically correct phrase here over and over again. If it is politically incorrect I am in favor of it.

Did you notice that the cop wrote on Facebook and the leaners (lefties, since you are new) were so wild about the killing of Trayvon. The political establishment people and the national media just don't talk so nice but they do like themselves.

I hardly agree with what the man did but firing him for what he did doesn't make me very happy. It appears to me that the left leaning establishment and media just don't believe in freedom of speech for others. Neither does that man's boss.

The fool cop exercised his 'freedom of speech'. That doesn't that ther aren't repercussions for being stupid. Free speech is protected....up to a point. Damn good thing the fool got fired, and I hope his union can't get his job back.

Wow, old Bo just let us know that he thinks justice wasn't done in the Zimmerman trial. So you think that all the crap coming from all those who want Zimmerman retried until they get him are ok in what they say? I bet you really do feel like that.

You know what? I hope the cop sues his city and gets a million bucks! He gets fired for telling the truth, and oprah compares trayvon to Emmit Till. How screwy can it get?

We are getting there. I was going to say slow but sure but in this day in age it looks like we are running to the cliff full tilt and we seem to have lost the emergency brake along the way.

True, the Bill of Rights does not confer absolute and unconditional freedom of expression; there are certain types of speech, such as defamation, slander, libel and perjury that are not protected under the Constitution.

Brandenburg v. Ohio, 395 US 444 (1969)
Ohio charged a KKK rally leader :-( , Clarence Brandenburg, with advocating violence under Ohio's Criminal Syndicalism statute because of the hate speech, racial and ethnic epithets, for advocating violence, Ohio courts found him guilty. the US Supreme Court overturned his conviction and nullified Ohio's criminal statute unconstitutional. According to the Court, the first amendment right can only be abridged if three elements of speech: "intent," "imminence," and "likelihood" create a situation resulting in "imminent lawless action" Lawless action could take many forms: rioting, vandalism, committing hate crimes, etc.

The relevant part of the Brandenburg opinion reads:

"These later decisions have fashioned the principle that the constitutional guarantees of free speech and free press do not permit a State to forbid or proscribe advocacy of the use of force or of law violation except where such advocacy is directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action."

I think the cop has grounds for a lawsuit. Fortunately for BoJester, being stupid is not against the law.

I wonder how many of our leaners manage to see what was said that you agreed with. It can't get much worse but that bunch did more to destroy our fine country in the first four years than I thought they could do in eight and they still have another 3 1/2 years to complete their work.

Things like Holder trying to empty our nation's jails make one wonder. How many of those people attacked fellow citizens in order to get money for drugs? He doesn't know and he doesn't care, he just wants to get them on the streets.

We tried to warn them, Mark Levin wrote books to warn them, as well as Hannity and Limbaugh and the people in general. I blame this generation for being lax and taking things for granted that it will all turn out OK in the end. We let our guard down and we thought that we had peace and safety. We didn't really check what our children were being taught in school and college. We became lax about taking our kids to church and Sunday school and teaching them at hone what is right and wring. We were lax about teaching them about our great country and the heritage that is theirs. E failed in so many ways and the communists were very diligent in indoctrinating our children when we weren't paying attention. they were like the pedophile offering them candy and goodies to follow them and they did and how they are destroyed and are bout to lose the heritage that so many fought and died for. I don't know what to do to drag them from the abyss of communism. I watch these people in San Diego signing these petitions fro euthanasia, and ending the bill of rights to help OIllegal and infanticide which allows killing babies up to I believe one year old if the parent has a change of mind and wants to get rid of them. I don't know maybe we are screwed and we are just finding out now.

You are so right about all this and there are some people who could get us out of it, but not everybody listens to them. I am talking about people like Thomas Sowell and Ben Carson. Looky there, I, the old racist, said that two black men could suggest ways out of all this. Isn't that something?

Does anyone remember how Joe McCarthy was vilified? He knew how the communists had infiltrated our country. He knew Hollywood was full of them. But Hollywood blacklisted anyone who helped the UnAmerican Activities Commission expose the communists, and they got stronger and stronger, to the extent that today, we have Barbra Streisand, Brad Pitt, Ted Danson, etc., etc., etc. so left-leaning, and proud of it. When the public more closely follows these people and their antics, than world news, we have what we've got--chaos.
