When the Brits left India left in 1948, the Muslims (Pakistanis) anad the Hindus (Indians) practically eradicated each other.
(The Brits can be forgiven, for that small country was bankrupt.)
I believe that whatever else one might think of Colonialism, the British Raj at provided a barrier (and over time) to the many conflicts that may have otherwise occurred in that region.
When America left Iraq, one could say a similar result occurred, and for a similar reason.
We fought the wars in Iraq for one reason only: to provide stability and prevent one-sidedness in the Middle East.
That an insane Saddam was intent on manufacturing WMD is not up for debate; that we did not find them there does not mean that Saddam did not have facilities for uranium enrichment in Iraq. I believe the enriched uranium was moved, and I believed it was moved to Iran. And I believe it was moved in the summer of 2002, when Saddam became aware that America might wage war against him. And I'm not the only one who believes that.

A lot may have happened on that date. Actually, a lot did happen on that date----I know, I was there.

Saddam did not have anything left to fight with. He had bunkers of gas that we gave him, that were leaky and unstable. There is nothing crazier than him shipping weapons to Iran.
