Why Don't Students Harvest Our Own Crops?

The drive behind illegal immigration is millions of farm jobs. Why don't American students harvest our own crops during summer vacation, as school vacation was originally intended?

Unemployment's true figures are 23%. This would solve the problem. Harvesting our own crops would end homelessness, end government funding student loans for college and skyrocketing cost of education, and end illegal immigration.

So, why don't we do this? Are we too smart to work?

I kind of like your idea. I worked and finished college with no debt and now I am asked to pay my taxes while the college kids who don't pay their student loans stiff us. This idea would be fought by every freeloader group imaginable but it is a great idea.

Very late to this topic; however, a great deal of our agriculture is no longer in family farming. It has been taken over by large agribusiness companies who utilize machine harvesting.

They can get more government freebies than they can make working.

The illegals come here and take those jobs until they learn to work the system. Then they quit and more illegals are needed to take their places.

So, what do we conclude? The illegal aliens are here to save us from ourselves? Life is so full of arrogance and irony.

My last year at college I spent working on tobacco. The fields were so awesome, square miles upon miles of shade grown tobacco under these netted gauze-like tents in the foggy cool mornings and hot sweltering afternoons under perfectly clear skies, almost a world unto its own.

The high-school and college kids coveted these summer jobs, and the LEGAL immigrants from Nicaragua spent half the year at home and half the year in the States, making good wages, care and housing included. Why isn't this happening today?

The tiny house revolution (some are mobile on wheels) would be perfect for these large and small farms alike. Everything is doable, but nothing seems to happen.

What are we missing here? Start-up capital and old fashioned banks? A stronger dollar without the Federal Reserve siphoning off the dollar's value? Are there any posters here who know more about financing and business? Can we ring up Donald Trump?
