After contributing reading posts on OPP for some time, I noticed that conservatives believe that they are true patriots and liberals are traitors, Communists, and sympathizers with Iran. I don't believe that liberals consider themselves to be in any of these catagories. What do you think?

Me, too. In fact, I am a vet. I think traitors are people who stop your country from making itself safer. I could name a few conservative ideas that do not make us safer, such as there plan of sanctions to stop a foreign power from getting a nuke.
Didn't their plan fail once already? Doesn't Korea have nukes now?

To call all liberals 'communist traitors' would be akin to calling all conservatives 'nazi traitors'. Both are ridiculous and common stereotypical accusations.

I truly believe good, patriotic Americans come from both camps. Many from either left/right who think themselves more patriotic than those of a different political tilt are often delusional, IMO. All of both my conservative and liberal friends/Family members are good, proud Americans. I would never question their patriotism over differences in political ideology.

There does seem to be a lot of hollering about patriotism or lack thereof based on ideological differences on the OPP. For that very reason, when deemed appropriate, I have posted the following quote attributed to Mark Twain:

"Patriot: The person who can holler the loudest without knowing what he is hollering about."

they may not consider them selves as such but they are one or more of said categories

Alex, I took the same oath. Treason is the only crime defined in the Constitution. It is defined there so that people like you have no ground to call anybody a traitor. All this talk about Obama being a Muslim is a lot of crap, and you know it. Personally, I don't care what his religion is or if he has a religion. The Constitution also defines what freedom of religion is. I'm sorry that you don't agree with it, but thats your problem.If you don't like the US Constitution which was written by the founding fathers that you say you revere, try to get it amended to suite your ideology.

After reading your post, the first person that came to mind was Grace Scott. Only because I know her to be a liberal, but I sure as hell wouldn't label her a traitor, communist, or un-patriotic. That's not to say that there aren't a few here that don't fit in one, if not all categories.

As it happens I don't like Obama. I voted for him, and the recent nasty attitude Israel and getting cozy with Iran is a terrible mistake. His party has a great chance to capture the Jewish vote and political contributions. If Hillary runs she better learn to backpedal fast.
