Have minimum hourly wages gone up yet? Tips down?

Does anybody know why all of a sudden there is not any discussion to be had concerning minimum hourly wages for mostly restaurant workers, waitresses and waiters? I plan on reducing my tips back down to 10% since I cannot afford to pay more for food.....even diner food! Who is getting what per hour?

I personally feel it is the responsibility of the business owner to pay his employees. I have always felt asking me to tip was the same as asking me to meet your payroll. I do tip more for the benefit of a person who is some instances receives a base rate of $2.50 an hour.

Having seen the amount of money made by restaurants, I feel they should pay a livable wage. I do not ask clients to meet my payroll. Don't ask me to meet yours. Force a livable wage from these greedy business owners. Most pay little or no taxes. How much welfare am I expected to give to billion dollar businesses? If you can not pay a livable wage, perhaps you can not afford to be in business.

Restaurants charges are exceedingly high and tips only add to the abusive prices and usually for less than quality ingredients in the foods they serve.I cannot control restaurant prices for whatever I order but I can control excessive tipping since the servers (as I read in the newspapers and on TV to some extent) will be earning a liveable wages and tips will only add to their wages unnecessarily. I consider giving 10% tip at this point abusive and a bad habit to avoid bad service........no one here is talking about normal/good service notice?

Restaurants charges are exceedingly high and tips ... (show quote)

I do not frequent restaurants very much. I am a picky eater. I not only want to know how my food was prepared but also how clean is your kitchen. When traveling, I am forced to eat out. I try to go to only health food restaurants and to be honest I'm not comfortable with all of them.

I do not reward bad service. I do reward good service. After all you are asking for my money for service rendered.
