We live in a "everything has its price" society Hem. From illegal drugs to women and the really big money goes to (envelope please)... , POLITICAL INFLUENCE!

Comcast and Time Warner Cable give big to some senators reviewing merger

"The Senate will weigh in on the proposed Comcast-Time Warner Cable merger during Wednesday’s Judiciary Committee hearing, the first congressional examination of how the merger would impact consumers. The number one and number two cable providers in the country are also big-time on the influence circuit, giving upwards of a combined $42.4 million to various politicians and groups since 1989."

"The Sunlight Foundation’s Influence Explorer tool also shows that the two companies have spent a combined $143.5 million lobbying Congress since 1989 on issues including telecommunications, technology, taxes and copyright."

"President Barack Obama benefitted the most, by far, from Comcast, whose employees and their family members contributed more than $537,800. Two Texans – Gov. Rick Perry and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst – are the top recipients of contributions from Time Warner Cable, receiving $185,000 and $170,000, respectively."

We need a congressional exam to see how this merger will impact consumers?

Pardon me, I feel the need to hyperemesis now...

You got that right?

What we need to do is a clean sweep of Washington and state bureaucrats and change a few laws regarding political contributions.

I agree with you on both parts ,however why stop at just NBC/MSNBC,.
Let's go for a mastive clean sweep at CNN,ABC,CBS ,NPR, and some what at FOX NEWS only to be "fair and balance".

To quote Old Ben,

“Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see.”

― Benjamin Franklin

That goes ten fold regarding media. I really wanted to make fun of NBC indicating they wanted to "earn the trust back" of Americans after their little suspension deal.

It's hypocrisy of the most egregious kind.

Very enlightening
just goes to show; we get the best government money can buy.
NBC has to rise to the top for liberal BS.
They even politicize the Weather on their weather station.

If it wasn't so nauseating eagle, I could almost laugh.

Hoping politicians will self-police themselves by making corporate pandering illegal, would be like an employee at Walmart telling the brass at headquarters not to raise their wage, because they want to earn their money through hard work and achievement.

Fat chance!

I doubt and would be surprised if the word 'trust' is even in NBC's lexicon.

It's on all their tee shirts amigo, "In Comcast We Trust". I thought you knew?

It just made me sick when I watched the evening news last night or whatever I was watching and, they came on and said they wanted to earn OUR trust back.

Jezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I was born at night... , right?

Pink Floyd sang it best with their song "Money". Ever hear it eagle?

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
Money, it's a gas
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash
New car, caviar, four star daydream
Think I'll buy me a football team
Money, get back
I'm all right Jack keep your hands off of my stack
Money, it's a hit
Don't give me that do goody good bullshit
I'm in the high-fidelity first class traveling set
And I think I need a Lear jet
Money, it's a crime
Share it fairly but don't take a slice of my pie
Money, so they say
Is the root of all evil today
But if you ask for a raise it's no surprise
That they're giving none away
Away, away, way
(Away, away, away, away)

There's some truth for ya, trust me...
