After 9/11, the stock markets shut down for a few days. The markets reopened on September 17th, 2001 and promptly fell 7% – one of the biggest drops ever.

Seven years later, on September 29, 2008, the stock market dropped 777 points, another 7% drop. This is still the largest single day drop in history.

So what is so significant about these two dates? Good question. I'll tell you. But first, I must ask you to suspend your disbelief and allow me to explain a couple of details about the Hebrew calendar...

Every 7 Years Is a "Sabbath Year" – Also Called a "Shemitah"

You already know that the Sabbath (Sunday) happens every seven days. But did you know that this cycle plays out on a larger scale?

Every seven years on the Hebrew calendar is considered a "Rest Year." In Hebrew, it is called the "Shemitah." This word means "the release." It can also mean "the fall" or "the collapse."

During the year of the Shemitah, people are supposed to rest from their work. There is no sowing or reaping. Furthermore, all debts are "suspended" so debtors do not have to make payments during the Shemitah.

Okay, now here's where it gets weird...

The Sabbath Years are intended for blessing. But when a nation is in rebellion to God, these 7-year cycles mark times of impending judgment.

Jonathan Cahn, author of the bestselling books The Harbinger and The Mystery of the Shemitah, points out that many of the major judgments of the last hundred years have all happened on this 7-year cycle... Including World War I, World War II, and even the destruction of the Twin Towers on 9/11.

What's more, the two biggest single day stock market drops during this millennium BOTH happened at the end of one of these 7-year cycles!

The end of the Hebrew year is usually in September. With that in mind, do you remember the two days I mentioned at the start of this article where the stock market fell by 7%?

September 17, 2001 was the end of a Shemitah year. The market dropped 684 points.
September 29, 2008 was also the end of a Shemitah year. The market dropped 777 points.
And guess what? 2015 marks the end of the current 7-year cycle!

Notice... Each Crash Has Been Bigger than the Last

If you notice the pattern, each crash is getting bigger. And if the pattern holds true, we will see the biggest stock market crash in history this year. After all, the Shemitah is a full year long, and it means "fall" or "collapse."

But whether you believe time cycles in the Bible can predict financial events or not, one thing is clear...

The problems that caused the 2008 Recession have not been resolved. In fact, they are even worse today than they were seven years ago!

Wages are stagnant... Speculation in derivatives is rampant... And debt levels are much higher (both for consumers and the U.S. Government).
