President Obama called on people of faith to reject those who use religion to justify evil – and in doing so – reminded people about the terrible things done in the name of Jesus Christ.

Obama told a gathering Thursday at the National Prayer Breakfast that we have seen “professions of faith used both as an instrument of great good but twisted in the name of evil.”

The Crusades ended some 700 years ago.

“From a school in Pakistan to the streets of Paris we have seen violence and terror perpetrated by those who profess to stand up for faith – their faith – profess to stand up for Islam but in fact are betraying it,” he said.

He did not mention radical Islam or jihadists or Islamic extremists. He did, however, call ISIS a “brutal, vicious death cult that in the name of religion carries out unspeakable acts of barbarism.”

The president also issued a word of warning to Christians.

“And lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place – remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ,” the president said.

He also chided the United States, “our home country.”

“Slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ,” he added.

Robert Jeffress, the pastor of First Baptist Church of Dallas and the author of the upcoming book, “Countdown to the Apocalypse: Why ISIS and Ebola Are Only the Beginning,” said there are two problems with Obama’s comparison.

“When Christians act violently they are acting in opposition to the teachings of their founder, Jesus Christ,” Jeffress told me. “They cannot cite a single verse in the New Testament that calls for violence against unbelievers. On the other hand, radical Islamists can point to a number of verses in the Koran calling for Muslims to ‘crucify the infidels.’”

On Wednesday a United Nations watchdog group reported that Islamic militants were crucifying Iraqi children and burying them alive. Others had been sold as sex slaves and boys as young as 18 had been used as suicide bombers, Reuters reported.

“They are following the example of their founder Muhammad who slaughtered and beheaded those who opposed him,” Jeffress said.

While the Crusades were terrible, Jeffress pointed out they were a response to hundreds of years of Muslim aggression – an issue he writes about in his book.

As you might imagine – the president’s remarks did not go over well among conservatives. My friend Michelle Malkin put it nicely:

"ISIS chops off heads, incinerates hostages, kills gays, enslaves girls. Obama: Blame the Crusades," she tweeted.

I was puzzled by something else President Obama said: "We are summoned to push back against those who would distort our religion for their nihilistic ends."

What did he mean by “our religion”? Whose religion? And why did he compare the Crusades to ISIS?

The Crusades ended some 700 years ago. Perhaps the president should be a bit more concerned with the Islamic jihad being waged in this century.

I have to say this, Obama is a really good liar. He claims to Know the Lord. What God does he worship, anyway ? !!! Christ came to save us from the hands of Satan and set us free. He died on that cross a terrible death. Just as the Promise of God in Heaven, his Son rose from the dead and the Comforter was left with us when he went back to be with his father in Heaven. In the name of Christ, as Obama has said. Satan is the author of hate, lies and death. Oh me ! Yes, there are those who would proclaim in the name of Christ, but those words are put there by Satan, himself. Christ came to Save us, give us the Holy Spirit, eternal life. Satan comes to kill, steal, destroy the way of life. So, is Obama a kid of God or is he really a kid of Satan, the liar ? You figure that out.

It is possible I suppose. But so many here and around the world have little if any respect for Obama and consider him weak, incompetent and a LIAR. He did deceive many in the beginning, but I'm afraid the real anti-Christ will be even more cunning and deceive many more people than Obama's evil ass ever dreamed of.

He was born August 4, 1961 in a Membai hosp., in Kenya, Africa. That is not american soil. Hillary, John Kerry, Reid, Pelosi and others have had his records closed, away from the eye of the american People, as of the truth of who he really is. His own Grandmother, Sara Obama, was so proud of her baby grandson being President. She was interviewed in a Dem. Senator home (had no passport ) hide in his home in Harrisburg, Penn., so she could go see her grandson take the oath. She spoke in Sawahili. So, we have a reason to Fire him and them. He is illegal, as President of the United States of America, as not being born on american soil. The Gov of Ill. and the VoterRegist. in Chicago help hide the truth. Why the Gov't got into so much mess withthe law, trying to sell Obama's seat in the state house. And Obama got $1million dollar bonus from the Muslim's for making it to the White House. Called the Nobel Peace Prize ? OH, I guess you heard that Obama aloud thousands of Arab Leag onto the White House ground, this pass Aug, to pray to Allah, when the Christian/Jew were having their Convention just down the street from the white house. Christian / Jews have never been aloud on the grounds to pray. Yes, outside the fence, but yes, Obama is part of the Liar satan.

:thumbup: I watched Obamas grandmother being interviewed in Kenya. She said she was there in Kenya when Barry was born. She said they were all so excited that he would be president of the United States. I believe this was before he was actually inaugurated.

Rufus-saw the same interview years ago and believe Obama is a fraud. The man cannot give a speech of any kind without denigrating America or Christianity. He is as despicable as they come. During the same time frame as his grandmother's interview, one of the networks showed the picture of a young man holding two birth certificates from the same hospital in what is now Kenya ( Formerly Protectorate of East Africa). One was his own and the other was Barrack Hussein Obama's and both looked identical except for the personal information. It aired once or twice and was obviously removed on orders from the administration. Why else would it suddenly disappear ? Believe that not only should the fraud be incarcerated but all of those who were complicit in certifying him as being eligible and then getting him elected should also be held accountable. Obama does not know the true God of Abraham. If he did, Obama would have the Holy Spirit alive in him and worshiping and loving America, wanting to make her even better. Not hurt her. Tomorrow is always a question. The good and bad will come back again through other things happening in the World. It always does! Good follows good (Christ Jesus and his father I'AM in heaven). Bad follows bad (Satan). Neg follows Neg (Satan). Positive, being of God in Heaven, always allows for Positive and good things. I rather be at peace, full of joy, happy, which Satan does not like to see. Why it took over 700 years to create his Religion (Satan) to take back the Earth, what Christ Jesus came to set the people of the Earth free from Satan's Power & Destruction. Again, Christ came, left the Holy Spirit for us, till he comes back. It was more than 40 years after Christ went back to Heaven that Satan invented his own Religion. Our God is not a Religion, he is our Creator. So know this ! Christ told his disciples to get off their face - off the ground when praying to his Father in Heaven. Christ said " Satan is still the god of this Earth till I come back to set up my fathers' Kingdom. When praying to my father, lift up holy hands and eyes toward Heaven."
