Even so, an original letter from King George!!!
Probably not many of those still around.

Very true. For an abundant numbers of reasons, they must have the document.

Here is another little tidbit. In the Commonwealth of Virginia, there are still families living on Land Grant property with pieces of paper granting the land to them by King George. One family has lived continuously on their granted land.

Cool. I don't imagine that let's them out of paying land taxes on it though. 😊

Upstate NY, one of the biggest post Revolution land buys was the Pulteney Estate. Owned by William Pulteney but managed by Charles Williamson, a Scotsman who agreed to become an American citizen so he could take title to the nearly 6 million acres (Only US citizens were allowed to own land here then).
We have the deed transfer of what was said to be the last parcel sold of the Pulteney Estate, purchased at auction several years ago.

I believe that rights carry concomitant responsibilities. The Founders knew this. Unfortunately, they assumed this knowledge would pass on down through the generations. It has not. I think a Civics quiz would be a very good thing to require for voting. Most people have no effing idea what they vote for. This ignorance affects far more than just them. The ignorance and apathy of many voters is appalling.

I agree with you on this. I taught civics in HS and firmly believe it should be brought back as a HS grad req.

I have the answer. I asked why seniors, who were approaching voting age, were not required to have a mandatory civic class. Answer, it would leave them short an elective.

Because most are classified as farm/agriculture, their taxes are lower; however, yes, they must still pay those taxes.

NotMaga is confused. He is wondering how Prince William's and Princess Kate's son George stepped in front of William to become King and granted land to some families living in Virginia. You have him extremely confused now, which is easy to do.

πŸ™„ Sounds like a NYS answer..
Teach them enough to pass the state tests. That's all they seem to do here anymore.

You dems all look the same, act the same, march to the same cadence and think the same so sexual differentiation is meaningless.

Well pilgrim; calling the United States a constitutional republic might not fit the bill either, although that’s the world’s perception one could say it was Republic United under one God, which creates a lot of friction under the Modern view of one nation, indivisible with liberty and justice for everything that ever walked, swam or crawled across those imaginary borders πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

I’d like nothing more than for the progressive/cultural Marxists to read each individual states preamble as they entered our union.

Most generally it is considered to be early Rome, around 500 BC.
