One of my great uncles was Skolaskin --The last hereditary chief of the San Poil - A northern Washington tribe . He was Harvard educated and held great sway over his tribes and some Whites who lived in the area . He had quite a knowledge of the stars and made many predictions that were accurate . When he made a prediction of an eclipse that came true the people worshiped him as a god . He had his men stop farming as the government wished them to do and set them to building an Ark after he predicted a coming flood on the Columbia river . He was a wicked man - hunch backed -bald and with a head the size of a large grapefruit . During the day while he had the men out cutting down trees and sawing them into lumber and constructing his ark he would preach and make predictions to the women who looked up on him in Awe and adoration . He bedded them all and fathered nearly 70 children . The government put him in Alkatraz to stop his interference with their assimilation efforts . He was released in 1923 and by then had no control over the people .

Smithfield Foods Is Owned by China, but Pollution and Price-Fixing Is the Real Problem
Concern over what the growing amount of U.S. farmland owned by Chinese companies could mean for national security is rising. But what has garnered less attention is the fact that the vast majority — over 80 percent — of U.S. farmland owned by Chinese corporations or investors is owned by Smithfield Foods. Located in Smithfield, Virginia, Smithfield was purchased by the Hong Kong-based WH Group for $4.7 billion in 2013. At the time, it was dubbed “the biggest Chinese takeover” of a U.S. corporation, one of the U.S.’s biggest producers of industrial meat.
Smithfield is the largest U.S. pork producer, raising and slaughtering almost 18 million pigs for meat each year. In 2021, Smithfield’s revenue rose by 6.7 percent, reaching over $27 billion. As of that year, the company had around 530 Smithfield-owned farms and 2,100 contracted farms — a type of operation that often leaves farmers riddled with debt.
