let me declare a disclaimer...

Im forced to try this post by a crazy woman running around the house, a cast iron pan in one hand and a fly swatter in the other.. says she is my wife but still very threatening..

Says that for months I have been abusive, thuggish and a brute.. so why the heck did I leave the considerate, caring empathetic individual I was once upon a time?? According to this lady of the pan. I was rude and impolite to several posters on OPP few days ago.. she said set it right..

So why such a thing..

Perhaps it is because I reached that level in life when some of my replacement parts must be replaced.. the one at the moment is my aortic valve.. 12 years or so ago, my God given valve was found to be not quite right.. as in not normal and not working.. never mind that with it I played sports, was a Marine and enjoyed an active life.. don't matter valve is not working.. so open heart and fixed.. not fun.... recovery also not fun..

then some new guy, said my replacement was worn out and I was not doing so well.. and I may have become cranky.... so replace the replacement..

the little deed only took 45 minutes with a team of 7 docs/nurses and one stand by if the thing went south.. but the getting read took months.. supposedly the much needed procedure was OK to spend months on the prep of the dang thing.

anyway to cut to the chase after about half a year, lots of travel to Edina mn. a suburb of Mpls it did get done and after a trip tomorrow the rest of exams etc will be local and the little cut and poke will put me back in my prime and so she tells me I am sorry for any insults and rudeness which may have been expressed in the past weeks.

if you read this thing you must understand the lengths needed for domestic happiness..

Have a good day...

Hope for a quick and good recovery. Enjoy reading what you write. No Marine can be all wrong all the time.

I grew up in Fallbrook off and on for part of my life. I even lived there before Camp Pendleton was the Santa Margarita Ranch. Spent time there with Camp Pendleton Fire and Fallbrook Fire drilling many times on Navel Weapons. (back gate) One time we even got surrounded by MP's for lighting fires over the bunkers where napalm was stored before it was sent off somewhere to be decommissioned.

The bunkers were unmarked so no one knew what was there until the MP's showed up.

The ranch was Rancho Santa Margareta Y Las Flores. My parents and it seemed like all the people I knew there knew the family on the Rancho. The US took the land over in 1942 to use for landing training. I heard stories that after the war it was to revert to the family but that never happened. It is sad for the family but good for that part of California in that it is a great swath of land that is still in mostly a natural state.

There was a branch of the railroad that crossed Pendleton into Fallbrook. During the winter of I think sometime in the 1980's the track was washed out on Pendleton and never replaced so the train stopped coming to Fallbrook.

Our ranch was in Rainbow which is east of Pendleton. I lived on top of one of the mountains and in the morning I watched the sun come up over Mt Palomar and in the evening I watched the sun go down out in the Pacific. If the weather was clear the ocean and ships were visible from our house.

I crewed for a couple of years on a sailboat out of Oceanside Harbor. We raced every Sunday during the season. The boat owner was retired as a Lt from the Navy so we crossed Pendleton to get to the harbor.

Once years ago my parents watched a group of five or seven big navy ships sailing south one day. Couple hours later my cousin showed up and said to my dad, "Hey Unc, how come you didn't wave back at me when we passed?" They had been going from Los Angeles to San Diego.

My grandson grew up there and in High School joined that program that takes high school kids and they train until boot camp. Don't know the name of the program but I know several other guys who joined it. Isaiah went all through boot camp in San Diego and I only got an email near the end where he complained. Said the pre-training really helped him. He married a Marine before they both got out. The now live in Minn. where she grew up. They have a boy who obviously will someday be a Marine.
