With technology, Congress does not need to be in DC daily. Truthfully, they want to be in DC. It is very easy to avoid answering to your constituents if you are rarely in your district or state/Commonwealth. It is much easier to hobnob with lobbyist if you are right up the road from their offices.
They could spend one month, per quarter, in DC working from 8:00AM till 5:00PM like real workers do.
While home, they should hold a monthly townhall. None of my elected officials have held a townhall in, minimally, six years.
As an aside, check out the price of dinner at The Palm in DC. On any given evening you can find a multitude of elected officials having dinner there. I will not bother with the other two favorites.

I notice no one is paying attention to this. No surprise there.
I am gobsmacked at the prices at that restaurant. Appetizers $20, soup/salad $18-20, pasta $30-40, beef $70-90.
