A re-posting from a number of years ago....
The following is beautiful, and I was honored to receive it years ago from my Uncle Jim in Jacksonville, Florida. I do not know if he or someone else wrote it. It does not matter. I wish to pass it on again to all OPP-ers.
"At birth, we board the train and meet our parents, believing they will always travel at our side. However, at some station our parents will step down from the train, leaving us on this journey alone. As time goes by, other people will board the train, and they will be significant...i.e., our siblings, friends, children, and even the love of your life. Many will step down and leave a permanent vacuum. Others will go so unnoticed that we won't realize they vacated their seats. This train ride will be full of joy, sorrow, fantasy, expectations, hellos, goodbyes and farewells. Success consists of having good relationships with all passengers, requiring that we give the best of ourselves.
The mystery to everyone is: We do not know at which station we ourselves will step down. So, we must live in the best way to love, forgive, and offer the best of who we are. It is important to do this because when the time comes for us to step down and leave our seat empty, we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who will continue to travel on the train of life.
I wish you all a joyful journey on the train of life. Reap success and give lots of love. More importantly, be thankful for the journey.
Lastly, I thank each of you for being one of the passengers on my train."
A very nice post. Thank you slatten49

Based on our limited OPP exchanges, I believe that to be true.

Thanks, Frosty. As Uncle Jim passed away recently, my mind drifts back to this from him every so often.

I remember this. Great post. I’m sorry to hear of your uncle’s passing. Sounds like he was a thoughtful man - whether or not he wrote this.

Jim, who was my mother's youngest sibling, was indeed a thoughtful man. As well, like my Dad - being a Marine, he was one of my childhood heroes.

Biden’s vacuum will be among the biggest. He has solicited a lot of hate. His demise will leave a big hole on the train.
He has also garnered a great deal of support over the years. That support earned him the top job. When he gets off a lot of knowledge and baggage get off with him.
A large empty seat.
