PETA thinks that Brasstown, NC.'s time honored tradition of New Year's
"Possum Drop" is cruel for the poor little possum. They won an injunction stopping this decades old practice of "dropping" a live possum and releasing the critter back into the wild after the festivities.
In deference to PETA's claims of cruelty, this year, a pot of possum stew was dropped instead. It is unclear whether or not the stew was released unharmed back into the wild, as was the custom with the live animal.

I might add that I realize I misspelled "underestimate." Try typing with an 85 pound dog physically leaning on you, insisting it's time for his walk.

The possum drop is a unique festival like many around redneck country. Up in Kings Valley Oregon there is the testical festival. yep the berrys of castrated lambs are barbequed and served up along with tater salad and loads of beer. It.s a must go to.

Rob, "detest," is a little heavy. Hating someone is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die. The Chinese say that," a man who sets out on a journey of revenge should first dig two graves. All of that having been said, Liberals are more to be pitied than scorned. Obviously they received defective brains which are not capable of simple, rational thought and that's why they think the way they do. All we can do is try to protect them from themselves and keep the world working in spite of their best efforts to the contrary.

I am, after all, a member of PETA. That's "People Eating Tasty Animals," although I would not include possums in that category.

It's tough to do, but-----love the person, hate the deeds.

Whenever the Sgt. Major needs me for a chore, I play 'possum' as long as I can...until she 'drops' a skillet on my head to get me to come to terms with her 'request'. I am for abolishing this practice.

I firmly believe she was provided the skillet by an 'unnamed' lady with the initials 'A-E'. :hunf:

My Dad was a cowboy as an occupation. My earliest memories are standing around a branding iron fire with other little kids roasting rocky mountain oysters stuck on a piece of wire.
