Concerning self-checkouts

Dear Targets, Kohl’s, Walmarts, ALDIs, Home Depot , Lowe’s Home Improvement, Lowe’s Foods & all other stores that have self checkout.
You are heading towards almost exclusively self-checkout now.
The lady checking receipts at the exit was stopping everyone.
I didn't choose to participate in that nonsense, I had already
🛒filled my cart
🛒emptied my cart
🛒scanned the items
🛒refilled my cart
and so I just skipped the exit line and left.
I heard her saying "umm - Excuse me “ as I kept walking and raised the receipt above my head, leaving the store.
You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like it used to be.
• I'm not interested in proving that I did your job for you.
• If you want me to be a cashier with no training then that's your problem not mine.
• Keep employing young people and give them job opportunities.
YOU DON'T PAY ME TO SCAN MY OWN SHOPPING.
YOU DON’T GIVE ME STAFF DISCOUNT FOR WORKING FOR YOU.

I had a cashier (at one of these big stores) actual tell me their goal was total self-check-out in I can't remember how many years I think it was 25...and this was 10+ years ago. I will be long gone by then, but it's noticeable the effort to steer to you to self check-out...they simply don't provide that many cashiers...so, long lines, or self check-out. And of course they aren't even going to pretend to trust you either...kind of stinks

I never use self checkout but IF there's a line or slow poke at a cashier checkout I'll go to self checkout and call the watchdog over to ring up my items.

In our town Amazon was going to build a small supermarket where you sign up, and you shop and the store automatically bills you when you exit with your stuff, which you bag yourself. This looks like the future if we don't insist on a person to check us out.

Even more irritating is the number of shelf checkout registers that only take debit/credit cards. I refuse to have my purchases tracked and predominately use cash.

I find it odd Amazon wants to open grocery venues when they already own Whole Foods.
