Absolutely agree we need more light in the world.
The Chosen must be viewed from the heart, not the intellect.
In the series, everywhere Jesus goes, everything he teaches, every sermon he delivers, every miracle he performs is Biblical.

And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

You realize the popularity of these types of programs is due to us being on the cusp of another great awakening. People have ignored God for too long and now realize their secular life and purpose is empty.

From Charisma:

12 Hot Spots For Holy Ghost Revivals

The Holy Spirit is working in places you might never expect. The move of God happening in these 12 locations is notable, and these hot spots are great places for evangelists and missionaries to set their sights.

China. Nothing in the history of missions rivals the success story that is China. Mao Zedong tried to wipe out Christian faith in the 1970s when there were only 2.7 million believers. Today, the most conservative estimate is that China had 75 million believers in 2010. A few years ago the greatest growth was among rural “house churches.” Today Christianity is also growing in China’s major cities, and charismatic renewal has infiltrated state-sponsored churches.

India. Despite language barriers, tribal divisions and violent attacks by Hindus, indigenous church-planting movements have flourished all over India in the last 40 years. Fifteen years ago in Andhra Pradesh, a woman who heard a gospel radio broadcast, asked if someone could plant a church in her remote village. Within the first year after a pastor came, the church had 75 converts. After a church building was constructed in 1994, this church planted 125 churches with a combined membership of more than 5,000. This type of growth is occurring throughout India today.

Iran. Despite crackdowns on church gatherings, arrests of pastors and confiscation of Christian videotapes and other materials, Iranian believers are finding increased openness to the gospel in this stronghold of Shiite Islam. The leader of one indigenous ministry says, “Everyone we share the gospel with wants to become a Christian.” His ministry actually considered limiting outreach until it could obtain more Bibles and train workers to handle the overwhelming response.

Ghana. International Bible Worship Center started in 1991 as a home Bible study with 12 people in Accra, Ghana’s capital. The church grew to 5,000 by the year 2000; today it exceeds 30,000. The pastor of the church, Sam Korankye-Ankrah, grew up in a polygamous family with 24 children. Today, Ankrah and his wife, Rita, lead a multifaceted ministry that is addressing the physical and spiritual needs of a country that could be one of the first African nations to break the cycle of poverty and corruption.

Brazil. This nation of 203 million is experiencing an economic boom during a global recession. It is also in the midst of a Christian awakening. Pentecostal churches have been growing exponentially since the 1970s, as have Baptist, Presbyterian and Nazarene groups that have adopted Pentecostal practices. If Brazil can avoid the traps of greed and moral scandal that crippled American charismatics, it could become a spiritual superpower.

Ethiopia. Since the deposing of Ethiopian dictator Haile Selassie in 1974, evangelicals have grown from 5 percent to 20 percent of the population. Mainline Christians from Lutheran and Orthodox backgrounds have been swept up in Pentecostal revival movements in recent years—and this has fueled huge church-planting initiatives.

Guatemala. At least 24 percent of the country’s population is evangelical, and churches are pushing farther into unreached areas where indigenous people are trading their superstitions for faith in Christ.

Romania. What this Eastern European nation lacks in economic strength is offset by its spiritual passion, especially in the western cities of Oradea, Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara. Many of the Pentecostals in this country are leaving old traditions and embracing a more relevant, charismatic faith and planting vibrant churches—and their sights are set on sending missionaries to the nearby Middle East.

Pakistan. Although it is a dangerous place to be a Christian, the small minority of Pakistani believers is aggressively evangelizing their nation. Many of them report that the Holy Spirit is working miracles that end up bringing Muslims to faith in Christ.

Kazakhstan. There were no known Christians in this former Soviet republic in 1990. Today there are 15,000 believers, and they are spreading their faith from more than 100 healthy congregations. All this is taking place against a backdrop of Islam—since about 53 percent of Kazakhs are Muslims.

Singapore. This tiny, prosperous nation is emerging as an Antioch of the East—a strategic base for both missionary sending and funding. Members of Trinity Church, one of many megachurches in the nation, give more than $6 million a year to missions.

Indonesia. In the world’s largest Muslim country, Christianity is growing so fast the government tries to hide statistics. Operation World says evangelicals have grown from 1.3 million to 13 million since 1960. Time magazine recently called what is happening in Indonesia “a religious revolution.” And Christians in the Banda Arc province say Muslims are much more receptive to the gospel since the 2004 tsunami that devastated the region.

Absolutely, and it is our duty as Christians to spread that light, to share it, to let it Shine;
and the Light we are commanded to shine comes from God in the flesh.
(and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us . . .)
Immanuel - God among us.

As Hebrew Shabbat blessing goes:

Barukh attah Adonai,
Elohenu melech ha olam,
asher kideshanu b'mitzvotav

Translation:
Blessed art thou, Lord our God, King of the Universe,
Who sanctifies us with his commandments and
commanded us to be a light to the nations
and who gave to us Yeshua our Messiah,
the Light of the world.

Yet look how these pagans, atheists, gays, hypocrites, reprobates, vipers and liars all around us view us.

We are the monsters, we are the terrorists, we are the cause of all the world's evils.
We are the ones who sacrifice millions of children every year to the pagan god Molech.
We are the ones who sell body parts of aborted babies for experimentation and genetic research;
We are the ones who sell children into sex slavery.
(More on this in a minute.)
We are the ones who drive people insane, inspire mass killings and instigate crime.
We are the ones trying to force our beliefs down their throats.

And yet, what the fools don't realize, we are the Light shining in their face, blinding them,
and when they look at us, not with their eyes, but in their minds, what they really see is themselves.

I just watched Jordan Peterson interviewing Tim Ballard and Jim Caviezel on the story behind the movie Sound of Freedom. Ballard gave a chilling account of his work as a special agent for DHS in dealing with the evils of victimizing children, even to the point of killing them. Caviezel talked about how he got the role as Tim Ballard
and what he had to go through to prepare for it.

At the same time the operation in Columbia depicted in the movie was underway, Ballard was involved in another investigation in Africa, and the evil operation they uncovered there is beyond belief.

It's like Mordor down there. I'll post a link to the interview if anyone is interested.

His uncertainty before the Sermon on the Mount and talking to the apostles about it is not biblical. He didn’t need
or solicit the advice of the apostles.
The Jesus in The Chosen seems to be too uncertain. That is nowhere in Scripture. Neither is women bringing the paralyzed man and lowering him from the roof. Those were all men. Just a couple of examples where I think artistic license went too far

Though its a good production, the Jesus in the show is still not the real Jesus. I keep that in mind when watching the show.

So, for you The Chosen is just another movie about Jesus.
That is OK, Rose, everyone has their own experience with the series.

It is obvious of course Jonathan Roumie is not the real Jesus, however,

the real Jesus was fully human, and as such, he experienced all the ordinary, non-sinful limitations of humanity. He grew and developed, experienced hunger, thirst, weariness, and the full range of human emotions. His humanity was as integral to his saving work as his divinity.

The gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke record the healing of the paralytic who was lowered into the room.
The importance of that event was the healing, not who brought the cripple to Jesus?

What is The Chosen. and is it biblically sound?

Why It’s Tough To Play Jesus | The Chosen’s Jonathan Roumie and Dallas Jenkins

An Interview with Jesus - Jonathan Roumie

The Chosen and it's impact on countless people's lives
For the nay sayers, for those that want this show literally to be terminated, for those that bash us who love the show and enjoy watching it, this video will not be something that they will love to watch!
The awesome positive impact that the show has on so many lives its something that CAN NOT BE DENIED!
This is a 40 minute compilation of people's testimonies, people inspired, people in tears, people that found God, reconnected with Jesus once more, people that were given hope in the midst of sorrow, people that saw their children deciding for Jesus, because they watched The Chosen.

In some cases, viewing The Chosen has lifted people from the brink of suicide.

After playing disciples in ‘The Chosen’, actors say series made them better men

Did the Disciples help with the Sermon on the Mount?

He was not weak and uncertain as portrayed in the tv show. He was human but also not like us. It troubles me how he is portrayed in the series because its not biblical

One must be very careful when modifying whats written in the bible. It may seem trivial but it isn’t really. We are told that the word is perfect (Ps 30:5-6) and not to add to them.

Perhaps. However it is not scripture and not how to know Jesus. I recall the statistics given after altar calls and upwards of 90% strayed. I expect something similar here though would love to be wrong

I prefer depictions of Jesus as was done in Ben Hur. We never see his face or hear him speak. But his impact was profound.

I didn't start this thread to argue about Bible accuracy or how Jesus and the other characters are portrayed in The Chosen.

In spite of any artistic license taken by the writers in developing the series into a truly human story,
The Chosen's Jesus teaches from the Gospels, he does not stray from that.

I started this thread simply because of the impact the series has had on millions of people around the world.
World wide views now exceed 1/2 BILLION, and the number is rapidly climbing. I'd like to see it reach a Billion.
I'm trying to get the Word out and The Chosen is an excellent, even phenomenal, means to that end.

A Catholic Reflection: What’s The Chosen?

The Chosen is the first multi-season television series about the life of Christ, as witnessed through the eyes of those He impacted. Directed by Dallas Jenkins (The Resurrection of Gavin Stone) and distributed by VidAngel Studios, The Chosen has grown to become the largest crowdfunded TV series of all time.

No matter where you are at in your journey with Jesus Christ, this TV show is for you!

Imagine you could see the life of Jesus through the eyes of the people that walked on Earth with him – the disciples, Mary his mother, the Pharisees, the children, those He healed.

What would that look like? Now you can experience it!

The Chosen is the first-ever multi-season TV show about the life of Jesus. Created outside of the Hollywood system, The Chosen allows us to see Him through the eyes of those who knew him.

The Chosen stays faithful to the Gospels and at the same time tells us a story that is in between the lines of scripture. This T.V. series brings to life those people that are mentioned in the Bible, using the historical context of life at the time of Jesus. The series does not contradict scripture, but instead puts life around it so that we as viewers can imagine, “What was life like with Jesus.” It really could have been this way.

We believe that as you encounter the characters in The Chosen each week for the next eight weeks, you will build a new curiosity about the life of Jesus and those that followed him when he walked the earth.
