You can blame the rising price of higher education on the dumbass Democrats. I believe most of us were thinking kids around high school age.
Again, I like the idea, at its core. Although I feel like youre picturing it from the point of view of yourself at that age. Lots of common points of reference simply dont exist anymore, which can make it difficult for older generations to understand why things which were easily obtained/accomplished in your day are unfeasible for my age group to even think of.
This isnt the universal cry of teens to authority, "you just dont understand me!", which all of us have said. Its more. I wont descend into the "ok boomer" dismissal either. Its dumb and counter productive. So is blaming Dems or Repubs.
Try this: pretend youre 18 years old. high school diploma, two parents. what is the first thing 18 year old you needs? a job, correct?
Ok, cool. Tell me how(keep it simple) you plan to get said job. Where do you apply? How do you apply? Give specifics.
The reason I bring up the job out of high school thing, is because my mom (62 years old) has told me as a young adult: youre not looking hard enough, get out and pound the pavement, go in person and ask for a manager, dress nicely, etc. Not bad advice, but completely at odds with how you get hired these past 20 years. She didnt believe me, so i hit Record on my cellphone, and had her sit in the car while I went to various places around town trying to apply for jobs. She, having worked continuously since I was 3, managed to jump up the economic ladder with fairly little effort from a modern perspective, aside from "show up early and do a good job". She got to sit when I played the video of my days attempts, mouth agape at almost all of her advice being applied and not only failing, but a few times I was screamed at. She was right in her starting premise, but having never been forced to start from the ground up nowadays, all the advice was useless. Its not a 'lack of work ethic' we suffer from. Its prior generations with quaint memories of the good ol days who seem unwilling to recognize that our society now is completely different.
So pretend youre 18. Go apply for jobs. Apply for college. Try any number of things that seem simple and easy when you did them. Let me know how far you get before you just wanna set shit on fire out of helplessness. Seriously.
