Donald Trump lawyers have said that Donald Trump will not take the stand at the Grand Jury investigation concerning Trump's affair and coverup of the payments to Stormy. I wonder why not if he is innocent, as he has said many times.

Because his words are twisted to mean whatever the dems want them to be. Example: Trump says we have to fight like hell and the Dems say he means attact the Capital BUT Democrats, including President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, are no strangers to ‘impeachable’ rhetoric. In fact, the phrase “fight like hell” is a familiar favorite.

This was a nonstory 7 years ago. Trump wasn't subpoenaed to testify, so his lawyers must have felt that this cannot be too serious regarding criminality on Trump's part.
