Well, I guess now we know why Trump wants Ron DeSantis out of the picture so badly.

Two recent polls came in that are very bad news for Trump.

Both of them show that DeSantis is now the favorite among GOP voters for the 2024 ticket.

No Longer the Favorite

Trump still has the national average for all polls, but his number is going backward.

The latest YouGov poll put DeSantis ahead nationally for the first time, 42-35…

NEW: More Republicans and Republican-leaning Independents now say they'd prefer DeSantis (42%) as their 2024 presidential nominee over Trump than say they'd prefer Trump to DeSantis (35%). In an October poll w/@YahooNews, Trump was preferred, 45% to 35%.

That is not the only one, however.

We know DeSantis would take Florida easily, with recent polling putting DeSantis ahead at 56-30.

DeSantis now also leads Trump in New Hampshire, Georgia, and Iowa.

Then comes the big one…

A CWS Research poll now has DeSantis ahead of Trump in Texas, which would be devastating for Trump.

New: A poll released by the @TexasGOP from @CWS_Research shows Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis up 11 points on Donald Trump in a Texas 2024 GOP primary matchup.

The same pollster had Trump +17 over DeSantis in October.

If this trend holds, Trump is far from the lock he thinks he is to win the nomination.

With no other serious candidate, the best chance that DeSantis would have to beat Trump is if they are head-to-head.

Trump is going to get his share, and it will be a big share, but it is not as big as the share that wants to see someone else.

Here is a really important question, though.

Would Trump be so petty to not back DeSantis if he beats Trump in the primary?

Can you imagine him telling his 35 or so million diehard supporters not to vote because he did not win or the primary was stolen from him?

That, unfortunately, is a something we are probably going to have to deal with in this election cycle.

He cannot win. He has lost too much Republican support. GOP needs a new face.

Trump will burn the GOP to the ground if he's not their candidate and he won't be that. The GOP has realized his type governing is toxic and independent voters won't cast a vote for him, Democrats sure won't. The GOP embraced his crass form of my way or the highway governing,,,now they gotta live with it.

I think people may have gotten weary of Trump's bloviating - especially about himself. If DeSantis gets in the race, it'll be a distraction from Trump for the Demonrats.

Yes if the Democrats want DeSantis to run. That means they’re scared shitless of Trump

Do have any thoughts on why Trump has been demeaning DeSantis? Seems to me they should be working together for the good of the country.

I believe they might be doing that now. And they’re just playing the media
