Remember, you asked for it.

In marriage, first comes LOVE and then comes Love.

LOVE is the googlee eye deep rose tinted version. Everything is just wonderful!

Love is the work part. It is the nitty gritty of listening, hearing and working to be a couple. It is learning to read the signals of your spouse. It is learning the line in the sand on certain issues and not crossing them..even if you may not agree. Aha, you want an example. Refinancing a home comes to mind. The size 14 came down, with a line in the sand of no longer then an eight year loan duration.

Let me give you one firm rule we established a few years ago. It resolved seasonal quarrels over stupid stuff. About six or seven years ago, I developed spring seasonal allergies. UncleE has always had fall allergies. We found ourselves having stupid quarrels over idiotic things. We established a rule. If one of us is having an allergy cranky day, we point blank say, "I am in a big, bad cranky mood!" The quarrels dropped to nil.

Love is the work! It, also, is the long term joy!

Diatribe finished.

LOL AuntiE. I wouldn't call that a diatribe, but rather a very realistic review of what deep, committed love looks like. I've been fortunate to have both kinds of love in my marriage, and hope everyone who experiences love gets to have the joy of both.

Thanks for sharing!

People hate the sentence, Marriage is the hardest job you will ever have!" It is a true statement. Googlee eyes only last so far, though everyone had great frivolity in January when I told them UncleE and I made googlee eyes at each other at our anniversary dinner.

Hopefully, I will, now, be quiet on this topic.....bbbbuuutttt.......you never know with me.  :D

If you don't believe in divorce...don't ever marry. My Dad used to joke, marriage is a wonderful institution......if you want to live in an institution.

That is very funny but not always accurate. I have had people ask "what was I thinking of when I married her/him? My comment is always "you weren't thinking, period."

You and SWMBO joined after the gogglee eye anniversary frivolity. It, as usual, went off the rails but was great fun. There were many innuendos.
