Thank you President Obama!

"Obama demands strongest possible rules to protect net neutrality.

Barack Obama called for the 'strongest possible rules to protect' the open internet on Monday and came out against proposals championed by cable and telecom companies to create fast lanes for the web.

The president's statement comes as the F.C.C. prepares to establish new rules to regulate the internet after a series of legal defeats at the hands of telecoms and cable companies.

(The president was quoted) 'An open internet is essential to the American economy, and increasingly to our very way of life. By lowering the cost of launching a new idea, igniting new political movements, and bringing communities closer together, it has been one of the most democratizing influences the world has ever known.'

'Net neutrality has been built into the fabric of the internet since its creation--but it is also a principle that we cannot take for granted. We cannot allow internet service providers (ISPs) to restrict the best access or to pick winners and losers in the online marketplace for services and ideas.

He said the FCC should impose the strongest possible rules to protect net neutrality.

After receiving more than 4 million comments from the general public, the FCC had reportedly been discussing a hybrid solution that would have allowed tiered services but imposed stricter rules to protect customers.

The proposal met with the stiff opposition from net neutrality supporters, who know have the backing of Obama." (end quote-from the Guardian).

What this all means in plain English. It means, in the future, people will be able to access the sites they want at the same speeds. It means no special high speed toll lanes only affordable to big corporations.

It means being able to access OPP at the same speed as the N.Y. Times---not one day having to wait 5 minutes to access a small website while the "big boys" get access to your computer in only a half a second.

This favors neither conservatives nor liberals. Conservatives will still be able to access, within a half second---WND, Breitbart, Freedom Outpost, and Red State as fast as liberals can access Alternet, Adbusters, Common Dreams, and the Progressive.

It does mean however that Fox, CNN, and NBC will not own the playing field, which is good for no one except them.

Great.. All we need is a liberal censorship czar to protect us from the internet.
