There are times in our lives that we never forget. 9/11 is one such day. I was teaching in class when I heard a rumor that the Twin Towers in New York was destroyed as well as other important government targets. The school didn't want to let everybody know the truth, because it would interfere with the school day. I believe we lost an opportunity to discuss what was happening in class. When I came home, I became glued to the television until I went to sleep.
In any case, we Americans owe a great debt to all those Americans that died that terrible day, and especially to the incredibly brave first responders that sacrificed themselves to rescue others.
I hope that we remain eternally vigilant to this kind of terroristic threat, and think of national security as our first national priority, as well as defending our democratic, constitutional republic.
