'Reparations Task Force' recommends free health care, child support forgiveness for black residents

Joseph Simonson • June 2, 2022

Black Californians could enjoy child support forgiveness, free college, free health care, fewer police, and a long-term "truth and reconciliation commission" should Golden State lawmakers pass the proposals outlined this week by the state's Reparations Task Force.

Following a 2020 law to study the subject, a panel of left-wing academics and policymakers on Wednesday released their findings on how California can remedy the harm against the state's black residents caused by slavery and discrimination. All black Californians are eligible for the benefits of the program if they can prove they are "descendants of African Americans enslaved in the U.S. or of free Black people living in the country before the end of the 19th century." A new state agency, called the California African American Freedmen Affairs Agency, would provide genealogical tests for residents.

The 492-page report lists the task force's "preliminary findings and recommendations." The final report is scheduled to be released in July of next year.

Here are eight of the most radical proposals:

1. Child support forgiveness

The panel recommends that California eliminate overdue child support owed to the government by black parents who no longer have custody of their children. Black Californians would also no longer need to "reimburse the state for current or past government assistance" related to child support.

The panel also recommends the elimination of all interest payments on past child support owed by black Californians.

Under current California law, families that receive government assistance such as food stamps must deduct the cost of those programs from court-ordered child support payments. If an individual in California does not pay child support, he is essentially fined for forcing his child to use state services. The logic of the current law is that the state should not pay for financial support that a parent otherwise provides.

2. Establish a ‘Truth and Reconciliation Commission,' destroy ‘anti-black memorials and monuments'

The task force recommends the establishment of a commission named after the 1996 South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which was created following the end of apartheid to identify human rights violations against the majority black population during their time living under white-only rule. The task force also recommends the state "create forms of acknowledgement and apology for acts of political disenfranchisement" and destroy all "anti-Black memorials and monuments," presumably identified by the task force.

Pervasive "police violence against and extrajudicial killings of African Americans occur in California as they do in the rest of the country," the panel concludes. As part of an effort to help heal the state's black community, the panel recommends the state fund art that acknowledges the "trauma of state-sanctioned white supremacist terror."

3. Free college education

The task force recommends the state eliminate tuition for all California colleges, as well as other funding to create black-owned K-12 schools and colleges. Black Californians should also receive scholarships to "cover four years of undergraduate education" at presumably any university in the country, the task force finds.

The task force also recommends that the state "identify and eliminate racial bias and discriminatory practices" in standardized tests, including the SAT, LSAT, and the state Bar exam, with no elaboration on how this would be done. To further "antiracist" education in the state, all California schools must adopt a curriculum that "advances the ideology of Black liberation."

4. Trees in black neighborhoods for ‘shade equity'

In the name of ending so-called environmental racism, the task force recommends the state fund the "planting of trees to create tree shade equity."

5. Less McDonalds, more Whole Foods

The task force wants to "reduce the density" of fast-food restaurants, and promote the opening of "healthy retailers," such as Whole Foods and farmer's markets, in majority-black neighborhoods.

6. Decrease the police

The task force calls for an end to "discriminatory policing and particularly killings, use of force, and racial profiling" of black Americans. That means a review of every incarcerated black Californian "to determine whether they have been wrongfully convicted or have received longer or harsher sentences than white people convicted of the same or similar crimes."

The task force recommends fewer police in black communities. The "scope of law enforcement jurisdiction" must be curtailed and replaced with "more funding for prevention and mental health care." Law enforcement should also issue fewer citations at liquor and tobacco stores in black neighborhoods.

7. Free health care

Black Californians should be entitled to free health care, the task force finds. All black Californians who suffered from the country's "anti-Black health care system" should be entitled to financial compensation as well.

To create more black doctors and health care professionals, the task force recommends that the state engage in more affirmative action programs and a "race-conscious public health policy."

8. Cash payments to close ‘racial wealth gap'

On top of all the new forms of welfare and assistance outlined in the task force report, black Californians are entitled to cash reparations intended to shrink "the racial wealth gap." The exact dollar amount is not specified.

The state must also provide funding and "technical assistance" to "Black-led and Black community-based land trusts to support wealth building and affordable housing," as well as raise the minimum wage beyond the state-mandated $15 per hour. The task force also recommends the creation of a state fund "to support the development and sustainment of Black-owned businesses."

Not a bit surprised by these tactics and believe this isn't the only time Dems have done this.

They are better off in America then if their ancestors stayed in Africa. Since they didn't come on their own and were slaves, we owe it to their descendents to send them back to Africa. A one way ticket with the renunciation of their citizenship. That is all we owe them.

BREAKING: South Carolina Democrat State Rep & U.S. Senate Candidate Krystle Matthews Uses Racially Charged Language While Encouraging Illicit Campaign Tactics and ‘Sleepers…To Run as Republicans’

• Project Veritas Action has published audio of U.S. Senate candidate and current State Rep., Krystle Matthews (D-South Carolina), speaking to an inmate on a recorded line. On that call, Matthews used racially-charged language and encouraged dirty campaign tricks including democrats running as republicans for local office.
• Matthews: “We need some secret sleepers. Like you need, we need them to run as the other side, even though they for our side. We need people to run as Republicans in these local elections. This is the only way you’re going to change the dynamics in South Carolina.”

• Matthews: “I still got to struggle to raise money for my campaign? Where the f*** is my black people with money? I don’t care about no dope money! Give me that dope boy money!”

• Matthews: “S***, where the f**king dope? Where the duffle bag boys? Get you- find me somebody from your family that don’t even know you donating to my campaign and put that s*** under they names.”

• Matthews: “Honestly, these ain’t the same type of black people that I grew up around. I don’t recognize these black people. So, I black because I don’t understand the type of black that they are. Now, can I talk intelligently? Can I- I could be. Listen, I can move in all kind of circles, but I’m a n**** at heart. I love black people. I feel safest around my people. “

• Matthews: “We need some folks that can wear all black at night and take they f****** yard signs down when they- when they sleeping.”

[CHARLESTON – June 26, 2022] Project Veritas Action has published a recording of U.S. Senate candidate, Krystle Matthews, talking about her desire to break multiple laws while using profanities and racially-charged language.

Krystle Matthews (D-South Carolina) is heard on the audio discussing strategies like orchestrating democrats to run as republicans for elected office: “Ee need some secret sleepers.”

“We need them to run as the other side, even though they for our side, we need people to run as Republicans in these local elections. This is the only way you’re going to change the dynamics in South Carolina,” she adds.

She then encourages donations to her campaign from people engaging in illegal activity, including straw donations, which are political contributions made to candidates under another name.

“I still got to struggle to raise money for my campaign, where the f*** is my black people with money? I don’t care about no dope money, give me that dope boy money! Where the duffle bag boys? Get you - find me somebody from your family that don’t even know you donating to my campaign and put that s*** under they names.”

In federal elections in the United States, straw donor schemes are illegal under 52 U.S.C. § 30122

Matthews also encouraged other election crimes, such as stealing the signs of opponents. “We need some folks that can wear all black at night and take they f****** yard signs down when they- when they sleeping,” Matthews says.

She also used racially-charged language.

“Honestly, these ain’t the same type of black people that I grew up around. I don’t recognize these black people. So, I black because I don’t understand the type of black that they are. Now, can I talk intelligently? Can I- I could be. Listen, I can move in all kind of circles, but I’m a n**** at heart. I love black people. I feel safest around my people.”

Matthews qualified for the South Carolina Senate runoff after gaining 32.2% of the vote in the Democratic Senate Primary. She is currently a member of the South Carolina State House.

Matthews has not yet responded to a request for comment on this story.

Is it Time to Close the Door on Open Primaries?
Posted Wednesday, June 22, 2022 | By AMAC Newsline | 27 Comments
AMAC Exclusive – By Andrew Abbott

Primaries
Last month, progressives reveled in the primary defeat of controversial Republican Congressman Madison Cawthorn (NC-11). The first-term incumbent and unabashed Trump supporter was considered a rising star within the party before a series of scandals and public controversy caused his political prospects to quickly dim. But despite the left celebrating his defeat as a sign that the country was rejecting “Trump-style” and “Trump-supporting” candidates in favor of more politically moderate legislators, a new report reveals that Cawthorn’s downfall – as well as the defeat of several other Trump-backed candidates – may have had more to do with Democrats infiltrating Republican primaries than Republican voters themselves rejecting candidates.

According to a report from The Washington Post, several thousand Democratic voters voted against Cawthorn in the Republican primary, effectively guaranteeing his defeat. They were able to do so by taking advantage of North Carolina’s “semi-closed primary.” In the state, voters declare themselves as “Democratic, Republican, or Libertarian” and can only participate in primaries for their declared party. However, they can also register as “Unaffiliated.” This permits them to vote in whichever primary they choose. As the Post explains:

“From time to time, politicians and political entrepreneurs take advantage of this by trying to persuade unaffiliated voters who usually favor one party to vote in instead and sabotage the opposing party’s primary….In 2022, a number of groups in NC-11, including the “American Muckrakers” Political Action Committee (also known as the “Fire Madison PAC”) tried this tactic, encouraging NC-11 Democratic voters to temporarily change their party affiliation to unaffiliated, vote in the Republican primary, and support centrist Republican Wendy Nevarez.”
In Cawthorn’s district, more than 3,000 voters switched from “Democratic” to “Unaffiliated.” This figure was almost three times the average in North Carolina’s other 13 districts, and far more than any other recent primary. Of these Democrat-turned-unaffiliated voters, 1,754 cast ballots in the Republican primary. While this may seem like a relatively small figure, Cawthorn lost his primary by only 1,384 votes.

North Carolina’s primary process is far from the only one that has conservatives concerned. In 15 states, voters participate in “open primaries.” In these elections, registered voters can choose which primary they wish to participate in. This means that if one party’s candidate is unopposed in their primary, members of that party can freely vote in and upend the results of the opposite party’s election.

In Georgia, this is precisely what happened – again to the detriment of Trump-backed candidates. In the May 24th Georgia Republican primary, 37,000 voters who had cast ballots for Democrats in 2020 cast ballots for Republicans this time around. Perhaps unsurprisingly, several Trump-endorsed primary challengers, including former Senator David Perdue, who was vying to unseat Governor Brian Kemp, struggled against incumbents who were likely the beneficiaries of those Democrats voting in the Republican primary.

One of the biggest proponents of this strategy is Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) – an avowed anti-Trump Republican who has worked with Democrats on the January 6 Select Committee. According to the Associated Press, Kinzinger actively encouraged Independents and Democrats to manipulate the results of Republican primaries through his political organization Country First, which “targeted thousands of former Georgia Democrats with mailers and text messages urging them to support [Georgia Secretary of State Brad] Raffensperger for the sake of democracy.” Specifically, Country First sent text messages to Georgia voters that read “Don’t wait until the general election to go after the extremes. Vote in the Republican Primary for the candidate that supports truth and democracy.”

This growing phenomenon has led many Republicans to call for reforms and even an end to open primaries. Yet, no incumbent has expressed any interest in seeking such reforms in Georgia, or in any other state that continues to hold open primaries.

Mainstream outlets are calling this new tactic “strategic crossover voting,” and seem to encourage the practice. Many publications have labeled closed primaries “anti-democratic,” arguing that they force Independents to make a binary choice between parties. But this argument belies the fundamental purpose of a primary, which is for a political party to decide whom they wish to represent their interests in a general election. As was demonstrated in North Carolina, Georgia, and other states, semi-closed and open primaries can dramatically cripple the integrity of this process, and effectively prevent a candidate who most Republican voters in an electorate might support from making it onto the ballot.

The likeliest result of this process continuing will be for political parties to allow fewer candidates to run in said primaries. If there are several candidates and the primary is likely to be close, the opposite party can simply tip the scales to whichever candidate is weakest. The only protection against this would be for political parties to limit the number of primary candidates, thus making the process even less democratic.

Ultimately, the abuse of the open primaries system goes against the common-sense idea that Republicans should select the Republican candidate, while Democrats should select the Democratic candidate. By incentivizing political partisans to help select the candidate of the other party who they feel is the weakest, a basic premise of democracy – that voters will select candidates who represent their interests – is turned on its head. If our political leaders truly care about “protecting democracy,” they may do well to start with ending open primaries for good.
