Here are major (Must) sites
PetFBI.com
Nokillnetwork.org
Dogsfindingdogs.com This site has some of the best "How to find your pet " in few sentences.
Flyers only work if highly visible and handing out (Door Knocking)
Facebook lost and found pets and be sure to post in nearby cities and bedroom communities.
Large Neon signs 3ft by 2ft with Color Flyer attached to center. (Dollar Store) your phone number hand printed in 5 inch tall numbers with the very broad Sharpe Marker and the words missing and Breed.
Post signs on stop signs, telephone Poles or put stakes in the ground.
Place at all major entrances and exits to and from nearby towns and cities.

Don't ask permission because no one wants to be the ass that takes down a missing pet sign.
I added an example but had not yet written my phone number and "Yorkie" yet.
The number one thing owners say after finding their pet "I can't believe how far they went "
After they realize they are lost they go into full panic mode, anxiety and survival mode.
Be sure your Facebook add says
" please take a picture and text with location and Cross streets immediately so that search dogs can immediately follow scent.
Do not chase pet, please squat down and in low soft voice try to call them to you.
When in survival mode pets often run from their owners and don't come when called. They often go Ferrell, hiding during the day and traveling at night.
If you get a sighting, immediately go to spot and place bowl of water along with clothing you have worn and a bedding blanket with their scent or a toy with their scent.
Make a scent trail to sighting spot.
Urine has the exact same hormones that are excreted through your skin that is your scent finger print. Half urine with half water in a spray bottle. Every 12 feet spray a quarter size spray where dog is likely to walk.
I learned the "Learning curve " over weeks and wish I had known day one.
More people these days that find a pet decide to keep it and not try to find the owner or are afraid to take them to a Humane society in fear the pet will be put down. This is why you must place Neon signs to pressure someone keeping your pet to return to you.
REWARD is a must and giving flyers to school kids is a great way to have dozens searching for you. They (Kids,) want easy money.
If you can find a cage trap to put at sightings even better.
Often pets come home in the middle of the night and don't see anyone (survived mode) Take off again. Make sure to have a bed, treats, water near the door they use along with clothing you have worn (dirty laundry )
Call police and Sheriff's, find and stop them on their patrol shifts and give them a flyer. Give flyer to garbage truck drivers and postal drivers (They know your neighborhood)
Many Humane Society's and dog Rescues state that most missing pets have changed hands 2-3 times and it's past 30 days before they get your pet.
Also remember craigslist and search listings for "Found and For Sale " not just Craigslist.
Good luck
