Like I said earlier, I'm not trying to tell God how to do his job, but we'd appreciate youth a lot more if we had to be old first.

No. No offense, but every body thinks they look like their kids. Mostly, they don't. Mine look enough like me so I don't feel like I should file for divorce.

Trust me, it was nicer in the sixties and seventies, when there weren't so damn many people there. Town I lived in has gone from around 700 people to about 3000.

You are just so charmingly socialable.  :-) 8-)

ProgenyE went for the first years as an exact replica of UncleE. The next years were a look, though not replica, like me. The current look is truly a blend of both of us.

Found a picture in images. It was taken from an overlook near where I grew up. Thought I'd mix a little beauty in with the ugly. The tallest mountain in the back middle is Wheeler Peak, highest in NM.

A resident of Taos, NM, I had the occasion to hike Wheeler Peak several times. On one occasion with my younger brother and my nephew, as we came close to the lake, a marmot stood upright on this huge boulder like a matra de. As we trudged along, we saw a marmot take this severe turn down the scree and my nephew said, "He must have suddenly realized he was above 7200 ft."

What lake? As a kid, we backpacked to Lost Lake, and camped. I remember Horshoe lake on the hike to Wheeler Peak also.

There is a path that leads to the base of hiking up Wheeler Peak, where if you continue to the peak you can see Questa, the town of Red River, and the whole valley almost to Eagle Nest. On this occasion, the basin below Wheeler Peak had a small lake.

NM truly lives up to his name "State of Enchantment." I've been through the entire state and have not been able to locate any place that is not enchanting. :-D :-D :-D

It was a lot more enchanting 50 years ago when there weren't so damn many people. I grew up in a town of barely 700 that's now over 3000.
That being said, it is some of the prettiest scenery you are likely to find. I was truly fortunate to have it outside my window.
