Democrat suggests she wants ‘civilian personnel’ to deal with illegals at the border, NOT Border Patrol

A Democrat from El Paso, Texas, Veronica Escobar, has been pushing DHS Secretary Mayorkas to create some type of civilian personnel force to deal with illegals at the border requesting asylum and not Border Patrol or other law enforcement.
She calls these illegals ‘vulnerable populations’ and says that law enforcement shouldn’t be the ones dealing with asylum seekers. She also claims that Mayorkas has been open to her suggestions.
You know, I am not completely hostile to the idea of Border Patrol doing less processing of illegals. The problem is that I don’t want to create a new civilian force to do anything at the border. Rather, I want the wall finished and the southern border secured so that illegals aren’t able to flood the border and abuse the asylum process like they’ve been doing under Biden.
The border has been a disaster since Biden stepped into office and removed the safeguards Trump had put in place to secure the border. What Escobar should be advocating is for the border to be secured to stop the flow of illegals over the border. Instead, she wants to create some new permanent bureaucracy that would just let all illegals into the country and probably register them to vote Democrat while doing so.
As a side note, doesn’t this sound an awful lot like the Democrat plan to ‘defund police’? What’s Escobar is advocating is to take responsibilities away from the border patrol, from law enforcement and to give them to a new civilian force. That’s exactly what these radical defund the police Democrats have been calling for in local cities around the country. Except this time, it’s the Border Patrol being targeted.
