Indiana Man Fired For Merely Owning a Gun

By: Shawn / Oct 10, 2014

If liberal anti-gun idiots have proven anything over the last decade, it’s that they’ll never stop trying to thwart the Second Amendment. They’ve been rebuked time and again by the court system, but that doesn’t stop them. Like a particularly virulent colony of termites, they keep coming back even after the strongest pest control measures.

Thus, it’s no surprise to see many of them support an Indiana private community after a supervisor fired a longtime employee for admitting that he owned a gun. After all, these liberals will fight to the death to protect civil rights…unless the victim in question is someone they don’t agree with.

Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell?

Nino Ferlaino worked for Lakes of the Four Seasons for 21 years before being confronted about his gun ownership. According to a local paper, Ferlaino had engaged in conversation with his co-workers, and it had come out that he owned a gun. This led his supervisor, Doug Weiss, to ask him if it was true. Ferlaino admitted that it was, and that was enough for him to be terminated.

Ostensibly, the reason for the termination was actually the on-the-job conversation, which Lakes of the Four Seasons insists was a violation of their zero-tolerance policy. This, however, may put them on even shakier legal ground.

Ferlaino isn’t going to take his termination lying down. He has filed suit against Lakes of the Four Seasons, asking for damages as well as an injunction against their ability to ask employees about personal firearm ownership. According to a new Indiana state law, Ferlaino may have a very good case. The law states that employers may not prohibit employees from keeping a firearm secured in their personal vehicle, out of sight. It also prohibits employers from asking questions about gun ownership.

The Other Side of Discrimination

Wherever this case leads, it stands as another example of the kinds of discrimination that are just A-OK with liberals. They’ll be the first ones to make a stink when a minority is turned away from a job, but they’re surprisingly silent when a gun owner is fired. If Muslims want to write Sharia law into the American judicial system, liberals are there to support them wholeheartedly. If a private Christian baker refuses to make a cake for a gay wedding, though, batten down the hatches!

This is just more of that same hypocrisy. Liberals won’t be satisfied until every conservative principle is wiped from the face of the country. They don’t see what we see. They see an America infested with unfairness and bigotry, and they think we would be better off if we were more like Europe. More taxes, less freedom. No individual responsibility. If a person is rich, he is therefore evil. Unless of course he supports liberal causes, in which case he gets a pass.

We’re only 20-something years on from the days of Reagan, but it’s sad to see how far the country has fallen since those heady days. In both culture and policy, America has shifted sickeningly to the left. If we don’t get some sensible people in office soon, I fear we may lose what’s great about the country we love so dearly.

Don, in California there was a former governor who signed the bill outlawing neanderthals, from open carrying their artificial manhood extenders into restaurants and stores.

Do you know what his name was? Ronald Reagan.

Because of Reagan, you can peacefully eat at the diner, and not worry that some arrested adolescent, camouflaged, would-be Rambo will spoil your burger and coke.

Don't choke on your lunch........................

Ohmigod, Mexifornia had Neanderthals running around back then? Have you had any success in getting rid of them? Has the importation of Mexicans been used for that kind of thing?

Outstanding job of attacking the messenger with your talk about Reagan when he WAS barely mentioned in the post. What in hell would happen if you just made an attempt to discuss a post about its topic instead of working so hard to hide what the post was about? You are a good Alinskyite, BD.

I am glad someone thinks BD's run away from the original post of the thread was funny. I saw only another of his attempts to change the subject to Reagan. Of course, Reagan's name did appear once int the original post.

If I can't blow off this morons mental drool, my alternating eye twitch will return and I'll start talking to myself again. No Thanks. I took him seriously for a short while and it just plain ole wore me out. To much time spent in his alternate Universe is unhealthy. So. I will continue trying laughing it off and moving along.

Do you know why I use BD for him? In case you don't I once had a 6'7 boy on my basketball team who called himself Big Dummy because his best friend like the name for him. I decided that the initials were pretty apt and explained it to him.

Actually Reagan's name was mentioned quite prominently in the summary sentence. Do you understand what a summary sentence is Roy???

I'll give you a hint. It's not something invented by your hero, Saul Alinsky.

Why you old left leaner you did read the summary sentence, didn't you? How much of the rest did you read? I will guess none.

Here are the words you referred to: We’re only 20-something years on from the days of Reagan, but it’s sad to see how far the country has fallen since those heady days. In both culture and policy, America has shifted sickeningly to the left. If we don’t get some sensible people in office soon, I fear we may lose what’s great about the country we love so dearly.

You still did not address the basic issue of terminating an employee, of 21 years length of employment, simply for admitting in a conversation he owned a gun.

I know the mere mention of the word gun is frightening for you; however, does simply owning a gun preclude an employee retaining their employment?

I was responding to the poster's last paragraph. In it, he yearns for the conservative days of Ronald Reagan. I made my comment because I wanted to point out that Reagan was nowhere near as right wing about guns, as many of the gun fetishists would have you believe.

As far as the employee being terminated, I don't believe anyone should ever be terminated for private legal behavior away from work. I may not like many of the gun policies of this nation but I have never believed an employer should quickly reach for the ultimate option (firing) quickly.....without first exploring lesser less drastic actions.

Jobs feed families and its not a good thing to ever be cavalier and calloused about someone's employment.

Brian

I do not agree with open carry. It makes you the first target.

I prefer concealed carry in a diner or restaurant..

I do not want to upset other patrons. I also love a surprise.

The surprised look on a fool looking down the barrel of my .45 with the laser dot between his eyes.

I remember the murders in Luby, Texas when they had a foolish law forbidding firearms in restaurants. Texas has now changed that law.
