I'll be there...
Two Russian women... Both Orthodox Christian...One from the East who hates Putin (very liberal)and one from the West who loves him...(the one from the West has a younger brother who served in Crimea)
A guy from Qatar, but his parents are from India..Very conservative...Muslim...
A guy from Nepal... Semi conservative... Hindu...
A guy from India... Liberal... Muslim..
A guy from Nigeria... Centrist... Christian.. (he has two ex wives in Russia, and two kids there)
And a Chinese couple... Both young and liberal... Atheists...
If we're lucky, another couple will join..The husband is Chinese, but the wife is Ukrainian...They met while studying in the US...

I love nights like this where we can all voice our opinions and any time it gets too contentious we just raise a glass and calm down🍺🍺
It's shaping up quite nicely... I'm a bit excited ... (show quote)

It can make you wiser if you can see the other side of things. I did okay until about age 55 then I got sort of mean. The left didn't have the numbers so they had to start lying and cheating. Two things I really do hate.

I'm taking two Iranian friends to dinner tomorrow night. Both are Uber drivers and are about my age. One has to translate for the other but both are very nice men. The one who speaks better English is going home to visit family next week.

You should be able to get all of the Russian Vodka you want for nothing. All over the world they are taking it off the shelves and dumping it down the sewers. I prefer beer and gin myself.

Idiots... That vodka was already paid for...

It's the thought that counts. You know you could make a killing if you had a cargo ship of Ukrainian Vodka. In the US everything Russian is bad, everything Ukrainian is good. I guess you could get Russian Vodka for next to nothing, relabel it Ukrainian and get rich that way. A shame I have ethics, because I think that would work. I doubt any Americans could tell the difference. I know I couldn't.

I am sure I am not the first to think of it. I am sure somebody will find a way to make a buck off this war.

Ya'll sound like a confused and conflicted bunch...I'd be sympathizing with Russian soldiers that do not want to be there killing Ukrainians.

Actually under Joe Biden, we Americans are pretty fracking stupid. We are dumping thousands of $ dollars worth of Russian Vodka away to show those dastardly Russians a thing or two, all while importing $ Millions of dollars worth of Russia Oil.

We must be the stupidest bunch of morons on Planet Earth. Lets go Brandon.

Yea pretty much. Remind me of that when Xi flattens Taiwan. Xi only has 3 years left to do it, before Joe Biden leaves office. But I digress. I believe you were defending Vlad and justifying his destruction of Ukraine. You gave a few reasons why it was perfectly right for Vlad to do that.

It got me to thinking about Imperial Japan and their invasion of China in the 1930s. I bet the Japanese felt justified in conquering China. I'm sure it wasn't hard to rationalize it at all.

It's never hard to rationalize an invasion...

I don't believe I've been defending Russia...Maybe you're conflating that with not blindly hating Russia???

If you were not defending Russia's invasion of Ukraine, rationalizing it, I am not sure what else one might call it. There won't be much good left in Ukraine for Vlad to crow about or use after this is over.

Putin has two aces up his sleeve. Oil and his nukes. I don't believe Biden is smart enough to see a way around those two.

I understand the invasion... And don't lay the blame entirely on Russia..

When this is over, the world will once again be split..

I will lay the Blame on Vlad 95 %, with 15 % left over for Joe Biden. His incompetence in Afghanistan, his idiotic importing of Russian Oil and attacks on American Oil and Gas Production, invited Putin to massacre the people of Ukraine.

In China and Russia they don't have to worry about the citizens electing a moron. You can't be a dictator and a moron together. In democracies like the United States and Germany, if you are stupid you can run a country for a long time. Look at Merckle. She made Germany dependent on Russian Natural Gas.

Much better than a leader Vadimir Putin approves of. At least he is the elected leader. Not like Putin who is Dictator for Life. I do not see why you keep defending Putin the Dictator. You grew up in Canada, a Democracy.

I see...

So when we spit in the face of democracy it is noble because we're the good guys...

Pointing out hypocrisy isn't defending Putin..

And have you seen the state of Canada's democracy these days???

Winston Churchill, " It has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time; "

As bad as the current leaderships in Canada and the US are, they can be removed in the next election. They can't say that in Russia and they sure as hell can't say it in China.
