Metaphor, allegory, symbolism, personification, and parables: this is the real stuff of truth. Paradox is the native tongue of truth.

Jesus gave seven descriptions of the "kingdom of heaven" in metaphor, as a likeness and not an absolute. This was not black and white. If I gave seven metaphors to describe the same things in a school paper, I would get an "F" for mixed metaphors.

The Moralism of the Ten Commandments, believing in Christian ethics, values, and rules, corrupts faith and grace.

your title the bible is not a science book, is accurate. However science is filled within it's text, as much as science provides proof and documentation to the veracity of the text. God inspired, with out question.

I would agree ethics, values, and rules corrupts faith and grace, but only in the context if attached for salvation.
As romans states....for by grace are we saved, not of works least any man boast. This verse in reference to mans inability to measure up to such high standards and Jesus being the only one ever capable. God in the flesh......

I understand and agree that the Bible is not a science book. The rest of your post leaves me wondering what you are trying to tell us.

I am not arguing at all with your faith, but one sentence within your comment is one reason I cannot, no matter how much I try, read and accept the Bible as interpreted simply because I know in my heart that my Creator would take into account good works. I don't believe God accepts people into His Kingdom solely because they profess to accept Christ.

I could always bypass that little detail before political correctness hit the scene. That is when I began actual critical thinking, for better or for worse, and logic dictates that works are important and to say otherwise is inviting disaster in people's lives. It seems to send mixed signals. Perhaps you could explain it better to me than anyone has ever done before now.

The same thing as always, but i wonder if he understands it.

He plays "christian" for a few days, then procedes to try to lead you through a rejection of classical doctrine for his own, which he finds more enlightened and preferable.

I think I will stick with the written word, as it isnt subject to the whims and moods of "rumitoid" or any other mortal who thinks he has become capable enough to "amplify and sophisticate" the gospel of god.

God doesnt need mans help.

The bible doesnt need re-writing, it needs re-reading.

As a "saved" being, you would want to do "Good things"... as a corrupt being, you forever pervert/contort/ or damage your brain, heart, whatever, through experiences on this planet,,, abuse, drugs, alcohol, rejection etc,,, they make you react "incorrectly" an abandoned child has rejection issues, which can make the aggressive or anti social, god wont hold this against you.

It is not a religious, "Get out of Jail free" card. You do good things to keep a good society, but your good deeds are only minor, they wont get you into heaven, just as your bad deeds, forgiven through christ wont get you into hell. It seems very fair and reasonable to me. if your bad deeds are completely forgiven then your good deeds dont mean that much either.

You get into heaven, through christ, who paid the price for all sin, and it killed him, in that strange way, (which no, I do not understand the whys/wherefores of) we were cleaned up enough for our damage souls to spend eternity with whatever God is.

Supposedly, THAT is better, I cant imagine, considering the current world situation, that it could be worse.

Thanks for our explanation to my question, Ve'hoe. You're a good friend, and always give an answer that is truly attempting to answer directly the question I directly ask. I have spent so much time within churches, had so many talks with preachers about this issue as well as others, dedicated my life's work to God's glory, begged for help in understanding, and still feel like an outsider looking in. Have tried to shake my disbeliefs and so far have not been successful. The only way I can call myself Christian is to lie and deceive - neither of which is Christian, neither of which I can tolerate, neither of which I can do.

…13For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.

Or.... stop your doubting that you are, and accept it.

It is a "choice" not a magic wand over the head. The idea that there is a different "Feeling" is a lie, satanic, if you will.

There is nothing said about how you are to feel about it. It is faith and acceptance of that gift.. feeligns can fool you, and betray you, but the god of the universe will not, he cannot.

Jesus, being who he was, could never make the claims he made if they were not true. Otherwise he had blasphemed and would be in hell right now. Even Satan, would not and did not dare to claim that. Christ had "NO" doubt,,,... It is true, just let your mind rid itself of the doubt, and you will understand the same thing, there is no need to doubt and doubt is not a gift or trait from christ.

Therefore, dispense with the doubt, it is not of god.

The doubt is in you, try for a single day, to feel what it feels like to have ZERO doubt,, just stop doubting for a single day, I bet you will like it.

Dog named 'Lazarus' survives euthanasia attempt

OZARK, Ala. (AP) -- Animal control officer Wanda Snell knows what she saw: A veterinarian inserted a needle into the black-and-brown mutt and injected a chemical meant to euthanize the dog no one had adopted. The animal moved a bit and was still and quiet by the time she left the shelter for home
