How about a very simple answer to the anti-vaxxers when they inevitably contract COVID-19? Just don't come to the hospital if you are in denial that you have the disease. ("Anti-vaccine patients vent anger on healthcare workers like me. It takes a toll on care," Opinion, Jan. 20)
If you don't trust the people trying to save your life, stay home and tough it out. If you insist you don't have COVID-19, quit being selfish by taking the bed of a person suffering a heart attack or, in this insane country, injuries from a gunshot wound.
Enough of your nonsense. You're keeping us stuck in this pandemic.
And as for Dr. Venktesh Ramnath, who has been accosted by anti-vaccine COVID-19 patients and their families, I'm sorry that you and your colleagues have to put up with these belligerent people desperately ill from this scourge.
a quote often attributed to Albert Einstein came to mind: "Only two things are infinite — the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."
How about a very simple answer to the anti-vaxxers... (

First, somebody should have told Einstein the universe is not infinite.
With a mortality of less than 2%, the Covid pandemic is not what you could call a scourge.
Bubonic plague was a scourge. The Smallpox pandemic was a scourge.
Coronavirus is not a scourge, it is a particularly selective engineered bio-weapon. Wasn't meant to kill everyone, just enough to set the fear mongering political machines in motion.
The real scourge today is a rogue federal administration with its sycophant media controlling the narrative rather than the prevention and treatment.
Regarding Dr. Venktesh Ramnath.
You're talking about an isolated situation.
Because a doctor at one university medical center in a metropolitan area wrote an OpEd about problems with Covid patients who had, for whatever reason, refused to be vaccinated, are you assuming that such a situation exists at all 6500 hospitals in the US?
Doctors, virologists, epidemiologists, hospitals, university medical centers, medical research institutions and labs in countries around the world are producing a plethora of conflicting and contradictory reports, data, stats, and information regarding both prevention of Covid infection and treatment of active cases.
The same is true of the efficacy of the vaccines. Data released last year showed due to Covid vaccinations, between Dec. 14, 2020 and July 2, 2021, a total of 438,441 total adverse events were reported, including 9,048 deaths — an increase of 2,063 over the previous week. There were 41,015 serious injury reported during the same time period.
So, who are we supposed to believe? Who do we trust with our lives?
Joe Biden? Doktor Fauxi? Venktesh Ramnath, the CDC? WHO?
Are you aware of the psychological and emotional impact the government's response to the pandemic has had on families, especially the children, and on businesses and sports and entertainment and education and so on?
Are you aware of the economic impact the government's response - the directives, regulations, mandates, lock downs - has had on hospitals, clinics, medical institutions and the healthcare providers themselves? These oppressive policies are depleting the financial resources of hospitals and clinics everywhere. The number of hospitals closing down, particularly in rural areas, is climbing.
