To Cause ISIS Recruiting To Fail

Barack Obama, speaking at the UN, said that it is the "lack of opportunity" that drives "young people" in the Middle East to join ISIS!

Isn't it nice to know that it's not some bloodthirsty, hateful death cult, inspired by some sadistic "prophet" who commands "the faithful" to ensure their place in heaven by slaughtering "the infidel", but simply a "lack of opportunity".

Well, maybe the answer to the threat posed by ISIS is as simple as what Joe Biden says is "a 3-letter word: JOBS"!

In fact, maybe the answer is as simple as setting up a Middle Eastern branch of the U.S. Dept. of Labor's Job Corps -- which Obama will no doubt pronounce "job corpse".

Cheers, ST

You may have a point there, but as long as we sit around and wait for the Gov. to create jobs, we better have a very large book handy, because we'll be sitting here forever. To think that some Americans have joined ISIS because they were born blood thirsty, is a little hard to swallow. Believing that they did so because they were disaffected, disgusted and fed up, makes more sense.

Young people have not seen their Government work for them - ever - so they have no reason to believe it ever will. They see us "adults" squabbling with each other for power, but have seen no practical use of that power, leading them to believe that we're just playing and have no intention of doing anything constructive.

They see no evidence that their minimum wage will get better, or that a college education will become more affordable, or that a job will be waiting for them if they DO take on massive student debt. All they hear is how the democrats are ruining their country and how republicans are ruining their country - and that's all they hear from. So if BOTH sides are ruining their country, what hope is offered them? It's no excuse, but it IS a reason and it's a reason I can understand. Perhaps if we adults were more reasonable people, we'd correct this crap and give our kids some hope back.

Very, very astute. And worrisome. If lack of 'opportunity' is the catalyst then there are millions right here at home who are potential recruits! And they keep telling us we have nothing to worry about? Ha...

So to stop Americans from joining ISIS just raise the minimum wage. Should tell Syria and Iraq. Seriously, do you not see that many of these so called American terrorists are immigrants and a large portion black Muslim?

That isn't remotely true. Most have been urban kids, American born. Whether they converted to islam or not, I don't know, but the truth remains the same. This dismissive attitude is exactly my point. We think they don't matter and they know we think that, so what would make them care for us? Patriotism? We've disowned these kids and they found another home. Any way you want to spin this - we bear much of the blame, that's simple fact.

I bear no blame for one of these kids becoming radicalized. That is a ridiculous statement. You need to take some at risk kids or whatever group they come from and raise them. What do you propose?
