94-Year-Old Vet Was Homeless, Living in Van in Walmart Parking Lot—Until Kind Strangers Step In
While Biden invites tens of millions of illegal aliens from all over the world unvetted, and harmful, plans to naturalize 11 million of them, with free SSI, free college, free medical care, free everything. Every year taxpayers spend $166 billion to illegal aliens. That was in 2016 yet. I expect that had gone up by now.
This administration ignores the thousands of VETS living homeless on the streets of USA. This 94 year old, I hope and pray, he gets a permanent warm home now with the help of a kind couple.
This is heartbreaking sight to witness. This 94-year old WW2 veteran who have lived many years homeless. He has no family? What happened? I wish I'd known that earlier

A WWII veteran who has lived homeless for over 25 years recently found a place to call home, thanks to an amazing couple in North Carolina.
After serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946 and then returning home, Gerald Lewis eventually found himself homeless. With only a van and his social security payments to live on, money was too little to cover his daily expenses.
For over two years, the elderly Morehead veteran was living in a Walmart parking lot.
“In the vehicle was tough during the heat of the day, it is too hot,” Lewis told ABC. “I used to park where the sun wasn’t coming in the windshield and making it too hot.
“But at night after midnight, it really gets cold. I’d have to start the car and get it up and running but you can’t run the whole tank.”
Unfortunately, Lewis was unable to keep his van, and in December 2020, he sold it.
On Christmas Eve, a couple, Angie and Brian Russell, found Lewis on the street and, after getting him some basics from Walmart, invited him to their place, ABC reported.
Gerald Lewis from Morehead, North Carolina.
“Watching this proud man tear up over getting something as everyday as pajamas was heartbreaking,” Brian recounted on a crowdfunding page.
So, the Russell family began to raise funds online to find a permanent home for the vet, who said that though he has relatives in the area, they were unable to help him out.
“Please help us provide for the most deserving of us,” Brian wrote. “A veteran, who protected our freedoms, who wants nothing more than a warm, safe place to live out his days.”
Through their efforts, they raised over $46,000. Brian recently announced that they’ve now found permanent accommodations for Lewis.
“Thank you all for your support and help in making this a reality,” Brian wrote.

America is the most generous country in the world. However, I want that we must put priority to our own people first. Protect our constitution. protect our freedom, unite and don't hate each other. But the LEFTISTS' started these hateful programs, the CRT, WOKE, CANCEL CULTURE, and the brain washing wrong history. These are destructions not building up our country, but tearing us apart. When we destroy people, we destroy the very core foundation of our country. Biden is shredding this country into pieces. And I think he is not actually running this country. I think, his handlers do. He is demented.

Homeless for
25 years???
There is probably a LOT more to this story than is being published.
That is not taking away from the kindness of others, but this doesn't add up.

There so many veterans who are homeless and out on the streets 24/7. Due to the remnants of painful experience from wars, their recourse is taking drugs but have poisoned their brains, and therefore could not make the right decision for their own.
I think government intervention is needed, provide them medical care and homes to stay.
US donates billions of dollars to countries all over the world, including Muslims who are killing us. We must take care of our own people first. 10 countries that receive the most U.S. foreign aid:Afghanistan ($4.89 billion)

First, with few exceptions, we should not be giving foreign aid to anybody: We need to take care of our own.
Second: As I stated - there is more to this story than just being homeless for 25 years. The individual probably does have some mental disorder (which may/probably include alcohol/drug abuse). However, to make the assumption that it was due to "the remnants of painful experience from wars" is incorrect. Being a veteran does not necessarily mean one has experienced the mental stresses of combat. The military gets many people in who already have problematic underlying mental disorders which can be exacerbated by the stress of military life in general (without combat).
So what should be done about a person (any person, veteran or not) who cannot make 'right' decisions?

Hey, Vet. I hope your Thursday is going well.
Yes, so many of our Veterans have some devastating issues. The causes of which we may never know. We only see the symptoms.
Denver used to have a program called New Genesis wherein a homeless person could sign up. They were given a room, food, clothing, and were helped to prepare to go on job interviews. Once they got a job, they were required to pay a small amount of money to continue staying there until they had saved enough to get out on their own. It was an amazing program. They had some pretty stringent rules the people had to meet. No drugs, alcohol, parties, etc. People that had issues (drugs or alcohol) were hooked up with one of several different services to help them beat their demons. I watched several people go through the program and get on their feet. Pretty amazing.
New Genesis was totally funded by the public. No government money involved. Of course, that also meant New Genesis did not have to answer to the government. However, can you imagine how much good something like New Genesis could do with just a fraction of what we pay some foreign country?
Just a thought...

I was involved with a group of veterans who tried to help others. No drugs or alcohol allowed. Not too many responses; they didn't want to really change their ways.

There are similar programs in just about every large community - many (if not most) are religious based. You never hear about them on the MSM because they are doing it
without government help and because they are religious based.

Huh. Amazing our fearless leaders now want to give ILLEGALS 450k each up to 1M per family, while cutting veteran's programs. Just when you thought they couldnt possibly get any worse😳
