Let the wind and the rain and the cold be put aside.. we did the deed.. A kids event is a big deal to all the kids..

Today, was spent mostly attending a public speaking event in which our grand son and great grand son both took part in.. while both are home schooled and live about 30 miles apart , undet state law, they both could show thier skills at the private church based school of choce, so they went together.. boring as expected, but a big deal to all the little kids.. important to them so we always try and attend.

as the groups and individuals kept in an order, K and 1st grade.. etc up to the big kids of 8th grade all got a healthy hand.. but some were more then needy.. the "big" kids did quite well, the others not so much.. my grandson, a 7th grader did OK, but he did not do his practice as told and that showed.. but OK.. then the great grandson was up and all worked up about the crowd.. as a 2nd grader he had only half a year in public school before the shut down last year and the big crowd.. about 60 people, made him a wreak.. also no one told him to pull the mic down for his use.. bad, all bad,, but he got the big applause anyway. after it was all done he was all smiles and relief as if the world had not fallen on him..

So for all those kids it was a big event and it did make an impression they will carry for a while.. We ran thourgh the rain and ran through the wind.. had coffee at my little girls house.. raved about the great success of each of the boys and just made it home.. still rain and darn cold.. but we no longer have to be concerned for the guys..

Nice day after all..

Those events are brutal, but your attendance means the world to the kids, Permi. I admire you for being there for them!
I went to a pumpkin carving at my daughter's house last Saturday after a 12 mile stroll at work which involved all of the grandkids, and my ex wife. Dang if she hasn't gotten fat!!
The highlight of the evening (for me) was when my 14 year old grandson came out with a "pumpkin helmet" on his head. These were pumpkins grown by my daughter, so there were all sizes available. He picked one that fit his big head.
Well...with all the stuff going on, and nobody paying attention, I went and found the valve in the wellhouse that shut the water off so he couldn't go rinse his head after having a pumpkin on it.
Mrs. Bunker came home sore from wrestling, and holding "the littles" too much, and I came home happy because once the water problem was resolved, my son got the blame!
You just gotta make the best of it!!
