My answer to your statement is this. I haven't a clue where you came to the conclusion from my statements or anywhere for that matter, that, in your words, "it's the Left and Liberals who feel that mankind is in essence the absolutely worst species on the planet."

That being said Carol dear, I do believe that my border collie has better deducting and reasoning power than do you.

You do have a point. I based that statement on your saying that God requires men to forego selfishness and self-centeredness.
(By the way, I've read that Jesus said love your neighbor as yourself--which seems to me to mean that one must love oneself.)
Without some respect for "one's self"--what you would call selfishness or selfcenteredness, how can we love "ourselves"?

Sorry if I confused you. I should have known better.

Nothing to be in denial about. These alarmist predictions never happened. Facts are on my side

Very well, obviously you are in the aforementioned denial about some issues, and we will just keep arguing and wasting time. I shant EVEN get into the alarmism of the right...simply out of kindness :P :P

Also, bufkr, I categorize "selfishness" into 2 sorts: 1. an internal, valid and moral love of self, and 2. an external, invalid (and immoral) need for the love of others.

Your border collie probably thinks he does, too. I know. I've had a border collie.

I believe there to be a great distinction between respecting and loving oneself as opposed to being selfish and self centered. No confusion on my behalf. Sorry if I was harsh.

Maybe we need to enumerate the "issues", then set down pros and cons of each. That would be a start. Otherwise, we may find ourselves in a perpetual state of confusion.

Addendum: After the aforementioned enumeration, we can then begin to prioritize.

No apology necessary.

Someday maybe we can get into a discussion of a fear of mine:
That the collective subconscious of the human race has a death wish.
I hope that that is not true----

You are absolutely right Floyd. As I said in my rant, the word that to me is blatantly missing from "conservatives" vocabulary is CONSERVE. The left politicians are not a whole lot better out of fear. I'm probably wrong, but the last President I recall having the guts to utter the word was Carter. Some since may have squeaked it in but I question with what amount of sincerity. And you are correct, it is not just a political issue. It is all of us. First world countries use 32 times the resources of the rest of the world, and therefore deposit 32 times more trash. The world has 6.5 billion people. If the rest of the world consumed like America, that would be equivalent to 72 billion people. Conservation and population were things we used to discuss in a fairly civil manor in the 60's and 70's. WHAT HAPPENED!?? I see a lot of the right wingers on here end with the phrase "good luck America" I say "Good luck WORLD!"
You are absolutely right Floyd. As I said in my r... (show quote)

Once we solve the problem of how to save wind an solar power to batteries or some other way at a reasonable cost we will have turned the corner.

But we need to be mindful that those that provide the energy now will not be the supporters of solar power & wind power in any big way.

If one would look close I think one would see that Big Energy is behind environmental issues against the competition. They can find people with issues & in many ways aid & abet them.
