Seems as if you short sighted right wingers have never had a real job or been concerned for the safety of any one working the actual job..
The list of outright dangerous situation workers get put into would fill the space OPP can devote to a subject..
The refusal of the right wing to seek safety for workers should prohibit them from ever claiming to be the party of the working class.. which they are not, in any way at all...
Afternoon Permi, how ya doin today? Well, I hope.
Your post made me think about my work history from childhood until now, and how many OSHA, and probably child labor laws were, and are now being violated, and either overlooked, or covered up by the big guys.
The two big ones that stick out to me are Owens Corning, and the USPS.
At Corning, they were making a product with some chemicals in the 'binder' they put on the fiberglass that was making us sick. When OSHA came in, and did air sampling, they had taken that chemical out so it looked ok. When I worked there, my wife told me she could smell the chemical smell coming out of my lungs when I slept. Since I left there in 1995, many of the people I worked with have died from various kinds of cancer. Corning bore no liability.
If OSHA was on top of their game, those Grumman LLV'S, the little mail trucks, would all be taken off the road. Ain't a damn one of them safe to drive, and the summer heat factor makes them even more dangerous.
I could go on, and on, but on a lighter note.
Not real long ago, I was looking at a 3 day weekend. The day before, I was given around 12 hours worth of work. I was pissed because I wanted to get my weekend started, so I ran my ass off all day, and got it done in 10 hours. When I got back, my supervisor asked how I got it done so fast, and I told her, "Multiple OSHA violations."She just said "Enjoy your long weekend." with a sour look on her face.
