Wednesday Devotional - September 17
Sep 17, 2014 05:20:12   #
BearK Loc: TN

Every morning when I wake up, I have a choice; I can be grateful for the day, or be grumpy for whatever reason. I make it a point to NOT remember bad days, in fact I seldom remember even the good days because they are in the past. In my mind the past is over and dead, best to leave it buried.

I look at today as a gift and I will concentrate on trying to make it the best day ever. I go out with the express hope of making someone smile, or better yet, make them laugh. There are things in my life that I control, and the things that I can't control - worrying about them won't change them. BUT, I have found that prayer can change many things I thought were beyond my control.

The Bible verse for this Wednesday is:

PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

Thank you for that devotional. I to start my day thanking God for a new day and for the fact that I am here because of his sacrifice his son Jesus Christ. If only the rest of the world started their day this way! I can only imagine! Thanks again

Thank you for this inspiring devotional. Every morning, weather permitting we sit on the porch, watching the animals, listening to the birds and enjoying the peace before the hectic day begins. As usual I printed out the Psalm, prayer and today the devotional to inspire our prayers and meditation. thank for for helping us keep the faith when the challenges seem overwhelming. God Bless.

Sweet Hour of Prayer

1. Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
that calls me from a world of care,
and bids me at my Father's throne
make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
my soul has often found relief,
and oft escaped the tempter's snare
by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

2. Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
the joys I feel, the bliss I share
of those whose anxious spirits burn
with strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
where God my Savior shows his face,
and gladly take my station there,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

3. Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
thy wings shall my petition bear
to him whose truth and faithfulness
engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since he bids me seek his face,
believe his word, and trust his grace,
I'll cast on him my every care,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Isn't it exciting how sometimes God uses people to bring out a message that others needed. He sure works in wonderful and mysterious ways.
