What immigrants don't seem to understand is that immigration rights and Citizen rights are not the same thing.

Immigrants should be protected from crime, discrimination, etc.

But they should not be eligible for benefits earned and paid for by citizens. If they want those benefits, they need to go through the process and become a citizen.

Citizen's should learn to speak English. I get having multi language signs at airports etc - that is polite to travelers. But we should not have to give voting directions in two or more languages - if you want to be a US citizen learn to speak the language.

When I travel overseas I at least make an attempt to speak to people in their language. What's amazing is how much nicer reception you receive when you attempt to speak their language. Most times they switch over to English because they want to practice their English and their English is better than my ability in their language.

But to walk up to someone in a foreign country and ask do you speak English in English is rude. Ask them do you speak English in their language? Usually they smile and are very helpful. When people living hear want all the benefits but can't learn the language is there any wonder why there is a push back.

I think it's crazy that you can't be fired for not being able to speak English, but you can be fired for not being able to speak Spanish in the US. Something is wrong. I have no problem with immigrants (legal) as we are all from immigrants.


One side of my family can be traced in the US to 1680 - but they were still immigrants. Even so called Native Americans (that term refers to those that here when the Europeans first arrived) but historical studies indicate they migrated to North America from some place else too.

What is making people angry about immigration is that many immigrants want to go into another country - take the benefits they want and change the culture to the way they want it. That's now the system works - if you want to live somewhere else - you take their system as a whole. Of course it will change some over time - for example there are Mexican restaurants everywhere. In the 1960's there weren't any accept maybe in the border states. That occurs because the so called locals may like some things of the immigrants and adopt them - that's fine, but when the immigrants try to push things on the locals that's a problem. that doesn't mean people shouldn't be proud of their heritage - most of us are. But when you celebrate it you shouldn't force it on others or get in their face about it.

To sum things up is the old quote:

I never understood all this stuff about the flag. It is a symbol thats all. If these guys want to fly a Mexican flag, I say who cares? I've seen people fly flags of Ireland, Israel, and the UK in my housing development. It didn't cause the republic to fall. I am concerned about the hatred shown to Mexican immigrants. Like all other immigrants, they came here looking for a better life. They didn't come here legally and that has to be delt with. Lets keep in mind that these people are not terrorists.

When my grandfather came to this country in 1911, he spoke Polish, Russian and Yiddish. He learned to speak enough English to be understood, but never really mastered the language. His children learned to speak English perfectly, but also spoke Yiddish which was the language used in the home and neighborhood. My generation speaks English and whatever else we learned in school. My point is it takes a few generations before immigrant families become fully assimilated.

While one side of my family goes back in the US to at least 1680, the other side came from Sweden in the early 20th century. My grandparents learned to speak English. Simple reason - since no one could speak Swedish, if they didn't learn they could not communicate.

All the immigrants from countries with few immigrants learn to speak English, because they have to.

The problem is because of the huge numbers of Spanish speaking, we don't force them to learn English. The problem it becomes a crutch. Face it you will never get a really good job in the US if you can't speak English. they will be forced to take low paying jobs - need government assistance and will vote Democrat since the Dems will tell them that GOP will throw you out on the street. They become scared and vote to keep what little they have - it's really a type of slavery.

You are right with many elderly immigrants - but they are not the problem. Many of them are retired and they can struggle through the process. That's a different story - leave them alone. But when you see people in their 20's and 30's who can't speak English this is a different problem. In the southern border states for example - the number one training class for construction workers - other than safety programs which are mandated for everyone is not teaching English, but classes in Spanish.

Contractors are forced to train their supervisors to speak Spanish. This is an English speaking country - why are we forced to accommodate people that want to come here to work? The only reason companies do this - the Mexican workers are hard workers so companies can make out by spending time and money to learn to speak Spanish. But we aren't doing the worker a favor, because he is stuck at that low level job until he learns to speak English.

The people that want full rights are the illegals in this country. All legal immigrants have full rights now. This is just another step in trying to bring our society down to the level of their old country. If they were loyal U. S. citizens there would no problem for them. When the first immigrants into this great country came, they learned our language and to meld into our society and not make a special society just for them. Sure, there were areas that were made up of certain nationalities but they loved this country and did not wave their old countries flag to get attention. These marchers are nothing like the legal immigrants that originally came to America.

Maybe they aren't terrorists, maybe they are!!!! I consider a gang a terrorist organization!!!! They move into a neighborhood and hold it hostage by threatening it, beating people, shooting it up, intimidation, and controlling it!!!!!

When I did home health and hospice home visits I was given clear instructions on how to behave, when I could do my visits, and which streets to stay off of. This of course was for my safety. I had patients sleeping with guns under their pillows!!! I had one patient much in need of help who cancelled all visits because they were told by the gangs we weren't welcome there!!! So tell me again how they aren't terrorists!!!

Another point, if these are just people looking for a break, how come they enter our Country without a dime in their pocket or a place to stay!! These are people looking for a hand out from day one!!! Go to Australia using the illegals method of moving to a new Country. Not only are you not going to get a cent for any reason, no matter your excuse for going there. You are not
Going to get to stay, in fact you can never go there again!!!!

Another example of these fine illegals. My husband worked with a bunch of illegals at a Granite Co.. They worked hard, showed up everyday etc. etc.. One had his wife go to the welfare office and say he had left the family. They had 4 children. She got all the bennies from the government and he lived at home with them.
When I was we'll enough to do volunteer work at the local food bank a woman came in claiming she had 8 children. She left with a large amount of food. On her registration form she stated she was on welfare. When I questioned her getting both food stamps and food at the center I was
Told she was a frequent flyer ( monthly visitor ), she also listed at each visit a different amount of children at each visit, never under 8.

Living in Az has been quite the insight into the morality of our new citizens!!!!

That may be true in AZ. As a former teacher in Maryland, the Mexicans that I knew were hard working people. I certainly knew about some Hispanic gangs, but there were black gangs and some white gangs also. Like I said, these people have to be dealt with, and we can start by not giving gang members and other criminals any kind of legal status. If they are found guilty, send them to prison and when their term is up, throw them the hell out!
