"I believe in the idea of amnesty for those who have put down roots and who have lived here even though sometime back, they may have entered illegally....

We have consistently supported a legalization program.

The legalization provisions in this act will go far to improve the lives of a class of individuals who now must hide in the shadows, without many of the benefits of a free and open society. Very soon many of these men and women will be able to step into the sunlight".

THESE ARE THE WORDS OF PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN, WHO SIGNED AN AMNESTY BILL FOR MILLIONS OF UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS, IN 1986.

Just another of the many "pearls of wisdom" from ronnie.

BTW, did he grant amnesty before or after he consulted with nancy's astologers?

Too bad they couldn't convince that cutting taxes and increasing spending would lead to deficits.

Of course you are right about Reagan. Folks should just file this one under the category of "even a broken clock is right twice a day".

Or the one about the blind squirrel, or the sun shining on a dogs ass.

Did reagan the senile forget that he was conservative for a few hours?

Most people recognize this was a mistake.

Is your point that if a Republican makes a mistake with good intentions, then Democrats should repeat it knowing it's a mistake? Or was there another point?

You probably didn't know that Presidents don't spend money that's not allocated by Congress, did you?

So President Obama is not responsible for the deficits conservatives claim are his doing? And since the House has that responsibility, wouldn't that mean it's the Republicans' fault?

Try to convince the knuckleheads of that. Even when they say it, they still try to twist the facts to suit their own narrative of revisionist history.

Besides, if they can't blame someone else for their ineptitude, they would go crazy.

The house does have some responsibility.. 50%. I've always said that because it's always been true.

That said, Presidents can lead. Obama promised to cut the deficit in 1/2 in 4 years, he tripled it with most of the spending occurring when he had a Democrat House and Senate. Those deficits were 100% Democrat.

The Democrats suck at leadership and statesmanship, but they excel in politics. When Republicans try to cut the spending, the Democrats successfully demonize them. But it's still the GOPs responsibility to do their job.

Reagan should have known the Democrats were lying. It's his fault for being fooled.

Same goes every time some naive Republican falls for "Raise taxes now and we'll cut spending next year". It's a lie every time Democrats promise to cut spending (on anything except the military), but Republicans still fall for it 1/2 of the time.

OK, so I'm not clear on what the problem is with the President's leadership.... he cut it in half in four years. Actually more than half.
Your claim he triple the deficit is simply not accurate.

LOL

A little problem with your website. 2009 wasn't Bush's spending.

The 2009 Porkulus Package was not Bush's. It was Obama's. You do remember that little $800Billion piece of political pay for play, don't you? It was in the all the newspapers.

Your problem is that you're confusing budgets passed with money spent.

Also worth noting (if you understand economics, you'll get this) that the TARP actually was paid back with a profit. The payout is listed under Bush and the payback is listed under Obama.

So President Reagan, the conqueror of the actual communists, could not get his friend Tip O'Neill to close our borders?

Or could it be that the business community who liked the cheap labor immigrants provided had a say?
