How can either of us attempt a compromise when we cannot lay out our arguments before one another ? I have listened to your ideas and commented on them. Then it is your turn to defend those ideas and I return and so on and so on. Then I lay out my ideas, you comment on them, I defend them, you return and so on and so on.

In theory that is how a discussion of opposing ideas should proceed, but it never happens between you and I. You must have a very high opinion of your beliefs, that you do not believe you should have to defend them. How dare I disagree with you. How dare I challenge you. How dare I raise an uncomfortable point. You always take your bat and ball and storm off.

Your idea of compromise is where I agree that I was wrong, you were right, and I say how sorry I am. I am sorry, but I don't roll that way.

Yes, I admit I do feel strongly about certain beliefs on certain issues, but I am always willing to listen to a civil conversation. Sometimes minds are not changed, my mind does certainly change when the debate shows me the logic to it and a beneficial outcome for the most part. If the principle in the argument runs against mine it most probably is not going to change my mind. I also don't storm off, I simply recognize the argument has come to a wall and is futile to continue.
