So even though both republican and democrat voters dislike the practice of gerrymandering, conservative legislatures know that is only way they can keep their power.
Just imagine if the disgusting practice of gerrymandering was outlawed, conservatives would not be able to suppress votes by passing restrictive voting laws.
And on that topic, why are conservatives so against national voting standards? To goofy cons are always whining and crying about voter ID, yet even though cons have limited intellectual capacity, they NOW that each state sets their own voting requirements, and that there will never be agreement among the 50 states unless it was a national law.

Democrat's were all about gerrymandering until 2010 when, under Obama, they lost control of a lot of states. Then they were against it.

So what is your solution?... this has been exploited by both parties for many decades... How about all districts have straight, square borders except for state lines and rivers?.... I don't think there is a simple solution.... I suppose the democrats think only they should decide...
On your second point... read the constitution and you will see that the states control the election process... always have so it isn't "Now"... Why is it that the leftist, Marxist, progressives have no problem violating the oath they took to uphold the Constitution?...
