No I don't suspect Kevin wants the people to know just what was said in his phone call that day and visits with trump after, he wants it all hidden.

A day before the House is expected to vote on bipartisan legislation that would form a 9/11-style commission to investigate the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol riot, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has come out against it.

In a statement released Tuesday, the California Republican said that "there are ongoing bipartisan investigations into all facets of the Jan. 6 events," including a review of security vulnerabilities at the U.S. Capitol, and that nearly 500 arrests have already been announced by the Department of Justice.

"The renewed focus by Democrats to now stand up an additional commission ignores the political violence that has struck American cities, a Republican congressional baseball practice and, most recently, the deadly attack on Capitol Police on April 2, 2021," McCarthy said. "The presence of this political violence in American society cannot be tolerated and it cannot be overlooked. I have communicated this to our Democrat colleagues for months, and its omission is deeply concerning."

He added: "Given the political misdirections that have marred this process, given the now duplicative and potentially counterproductive nature of this effort, and given the speaker’s shortsighted scope that does not examine interrelated forms of political violence in America, I cannot support this legislation."

I agree with him.All this political violence must be included and this should only be undertaken after the other investigations are concluded. Congress has other work to do.

This would only take 12 Congressmen 6 from each side, Congress wouldn't shut down because of this, the other 529 should be able to take up the slack.
Every major attack on the USA since WW2 has had a congressional review but we ignore a direct attack on the Capitol Building,, I don't think so.

What "other" investigations are more serious than a right wing attempt to disrupt and take over government and an election?
It can be another investigation so that republicans don't play whataboutism...this is going to be about right wing extremism and terrorism that has conspiracy links...as well as how to keep this from happening next election.

What ever they find an investigation is in order, the only reason this can be ignored is if they were complicit in the insurrection itself.

Now we have republicans claiming this didn't happen at all, not to believe our own eyes. Please someone explain this to me. How can these people call themselves leaders and ignore an attack on our congress, vice president and the Capitol Building?
