Central to fascism is the need to destroy truth. It’s important because truth is the heart of liberal democracy. The two ideals of liberal democracy are liberty and equality. If your belief system is shot through with lies, you’re not free. Nobody thinks of the citizens of North Korea as free, because their actions are controlled by lies.

Truth is required to act freely. Freedom requires knowledge, and in order to act freely in the world, you need to know what the world is and know what you’re doing. You only know what you’re doing if you have access to the truth. So freedom requires truth, and so to smash freedom you must smash truth.

Part of what fascist politics does is get people to disassociate from reality. You get them to sign on to this fantasy version of reality, usually a nationalist narrative about the decline of the country and the need for a strong leader to return it to greatness (MAGA), and from then on their anchor isn’t the world around them--it’s the leader.

You conservatives point to liberals and claim they are stealing your freedom when you've given up your freedom to follow a party that is controlled by lies. You conservatives look to Marxism and Fascism and all the other isms and think they ALL belong to liberals when Marxism and Fascism are distinct to left and right-wing ideologies. Well, as I explained to CD the difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals recognize warts in their ideology whereas conservatives believe wholeheartedly that all warts belong to liberals and you conservatives are completely blemish-free.

Well, it ain't so, and because you don't recognize that fascism is part of your ideology you are helpless to defend against it when it rears its ugly head...

To change the subject. Since you know more about Chinese people and their culture than I can ever hope to, please answer me this. Are Chinese People offended by the term Chinese Auction ?

In our super sensitive leftist America various charitable organizations that I know have been forced to change the name of a very common fund raiser. They have various prizes that people buy tickets for. After buying one or more tickets the person puts them into the brown paper bag corresponding to the prize they hope to win. Later on the tickets are drawn and the winners get whatever prize they bought a ticket for.

For as long as I have been alive and likely far longer than that, these fundraisers have been called Chinese Auctions. Now they are lunch bag raffles, and other names. I personally do not see what is offensive about calling them Chinese Auctions, but then I am an insensitive knuckle dragging Neanderthal.

The Jews have built a "Jews are victims always" into the psyche of America.
It's given them insulation from criticism.
Most Jewish families are like those Chinese you mentioned. Future oriented.
Like Christians USED TO be.
These same folks are mostly white collar elites who won't loose their status in the NWO.

Well there are a lot of Chinese everywhere and I'm sure that the Offense Police can find someone of Chinese descent who is offended by the term. Anyway somebody obviously was offended because my local charities who have been running " Chinese Auction " fundraisers forever, have suddenly stopped calling them " Chinese Auctions ".

It's somewhat like the football team the Washington Redskins. For decades they used that name. As far as I knew no Native Americans were offended until quite recently. So they have dropped the " Redskins " name. When you pick a name for your sports team, you choose something that denotes very positive qualities. You are honoring the group you have chosen.

I doubt Irish people are offended by the Boston Celtics or the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Are Swedes and Danes angry about the Minnesota Vikings ?

Can you give me some names Chinese sports teams use ? I am curious.
