I guess I'm still brave. I was given a cellphone, free service. And I use it for bus tracking mostly. Would take at least five minutes to figure out how to call, or text and receiving isn't any easier. I haven't even picked it up since Sunday. But I did have two conversations on my land line.
Cheers AumtiE

I use my landline frequently. I will admit to doing quite a bit of texting. My cousin travels, and we found it an easy way to keep up. I find it convenient to ask ProgenyE or UncleE to pick up things at the grocer.

Almost as bad as taking a road trip without satellite radio, or any of the other gadgets!
No wonder so many are ignorant about the price of sorghum, pork bellies, and boxed beef.

In the seventies, we had jobs in Dade County [Miami], and Broward County [Ft. Lauderdale.].I-95 was complete in that area. Several exits had pay-phones, and we and other workers used them for the usual necessary calls. The line to use the phone was like a present-day A.T.M. - we were all in a hurry, and the courtesy extended to the workers behind you impresses me to this day. In otherwords, nobody "hogged" the phone. I often hear people say
"How did we ever get by without cell-phones?".Well, the whole country was built before them, and people were a lot less dependant on electronics. que "Those Were the Days"...
My cell lives on the kitchen table. Only use it when I'm out and about. I'm not in continuous contact with the world, and I like it that way. I do have a fax land line (which I can use when the power is out, since hard wire land lines always have a dial tone). Remotes don't work when the power is out, at least here.

AuntiE, what amazes me is the courage of the early pioneers who not only made land fall on the east coast but those who later ventured west. The number of trees they had to clear, the amount of stumps they had to dig up in order to plow and plant crops.
I'm a woodsy guy and I'm just overwhelmed at the amount of sweat and blood it took to claim this or any country and how quick it was achieved here. Mike
Texting is next very difficult with my flip phone.
