The inauguration is finally over and I found myself reflecting on the time period between the election and inauguration. On OPP there were some die hards who thought Trump would be sworn in. I keep coming back to this question:

If Barack Obama had behaved in the same manner as Donald Trump during this period of time (between election and inauguration), what would the folks at OPP have written?

I'd be interested in hearing some considered answers.

Fair question.

Hillary was never a President, or incumbent President. She never had the power of the office or the government to challenge . Obama would have had both. Obama actually never engaged in behavior any where near this but was called treasonous through out his terms.

Obama was more of a bland character than Trump. I can’t see him reacting as Trump did - he wasn’t like that. He did say some stupid things but so would any of us if we had to do that much public speaking.

People would have eviserated Obama if he had done what Trump did. No question. I think some on the left would have defended him no matter what.

I wasn't a fan of his past 2010...But I agree that he took a lot of unjust fire...

The question I asked had to do with Trump's behavior in those 2 1/2 months. How about you try that on, instead of diverting to re-examining the right's dislike of Obama.

I doubt Biden much cares how some folks react. He's had an up close and personal seat for observing the difference in treatment of the 'Kenyan usurper' and 'god ordained' presidents.

I, however, am somewhat stunned at the behavior his backers seemed to tolerate in the post election period. Still trying to wrap my head around the fact that so many were (and still are) willing to overturn a certified election. Had Obama lost in 2012 and engaged in the same behavior he would have been run out of town on rails. I guess it's taking a while for me to come to grips with what we just witnessed....an American celebration of authoritarianism. I'd read about them...Father Coughlin, Huey Long, etc...but never thought I'd witness this facet of American history come to life.

Holidays are getting long.. Not much to do up here in the winter... But at least I don't sweat so much...

Biden will be fine, individually... But many a president is... I wonder about the party though... Seems like things are moving pretty fast...

You'd be surprised how many people gravitate towards authoritarianism... Humans react well to being told what to do by charismatic leaders

They always gave him a get out of jail card no matter what! He never left Washington! How would u feel if President trump did the same? How about bringing in the troops and closing dc? U people never see truth! America was stolen everyone including our real president should be mad!
