You Are No Patriot If You Don't Have A Problem With This Breach Of National Security

I'm not sure how much normal people track national security issues, especially as pertains to Russia and other foe category countries. The balance between Russia and the US is complicated and it has evolved through stages of cold war to post cold war balances.

The flyover treaty was just abandoned by the trump administration in a permanent and final way, to understand the damage being done here you have to understand the importance of it. Countries that fear military threats by aggressive countries need to be able to keep an eye on the actions of several types that could indicate preliminary aggression, such as troop and other military deployments and movements that are the first warnings.

Dozens of countries, including Russia, are signed on with an open skies treaty so that surveillance planes are allowed free access to the air over countries. We have some of the best surveillance planes and equipment on the planet, bar none. Allied nations share the intelligence from missions, and can be guided to look at specific regions when there are concerns about aggression. And here is where you pay attention to what is going on, because it is in fact happening even though FOX may not be covering it.

We are using two planes, on older Boeing platforms...they are cared for like AF One is, beautifully maintained because of the importance of reliability with their missions. Billions have been put into these planes, both in the most cutting edge surveillance gear on the planet, and in extreme maintenance.

The pentagon was looking to spend the money needed to replace these, to get them into the pipeline, it would be at least a couple of billion to retrofit another existing jet like a tanker. I'm sure a newer platform would have been used, a model that there are dozens of such as the newer refueling jets because the maintenance is then mainstream. That funding was gutted a few months ago, so the pressure remained on the two surveillance planes we have.

Now that trump has abandoned the open skies treaty as far as the US is concerned, that is one thing that Biden would be able to fairly easily reinstate, although it gives Putin leverage to get something like sanctions lifted that he would have had no direct bargaining power over. But no...the new incompetent stooges trump replaced the former pentagon people with are destroying those jets. And I mean destroying, jamming the parts and equipment out as surplus mrather than leaving them sit as the multi billion dollar assets they are. These are incredibly valuable military intelligence tools that would have a dozen other uses if they were simply repurposed for another type of research or surveillance that makes sense.

Legally trump has violated laws governing the role congress plays in the decision making process regarding the decision to stop being involved in a treaty such as the open skies treaty. Other countries depend on the intelligence gathered by the US, it's a big and involved decision. This decision to destroy assets worth billions of dollars is another issue that violates the law regarding the disposition of government assets. Trump can't just torch things he doesn't want used.

But the real thing involved here is that this would be a huge gift to Putin to have the most effective surveillance tool in the world ended and destroyed. Trump and the people who made the decisions to destroy valuable assets like this are going to come under intense scrutiny...and the question for patriots would be what we do with traitors, people who destroy incredibly valuable surveillance tools we need to keep an eye on Putin? As far as I'm concerned treason, and the traitors involved have no possible pardon or immunioty options available, from even the president...in fact I'd say even a president that betrays the security of the country like this should be charged with treason. How about expelled from the country, left on his own as far as secret service protection?

Being a patriot is far more than the hate the president hate your country rhetoric, I have despised trump well before he was president because he is the definition of a sleaze bag in every possible respect. It makes me sick that a president could so willfully create such damage to our national security as to create a blind spot for the world as to what Russia is up to...and do not give me the right wing blathering about patriotism if you don't have a prblem with this, because this is willful treason and damage to our country.

You'll learn that woody likes to talk out his butt.

Welcome back. The name sounded familiar but when I saw your avatar, I remembered.

I've been here since 2013 but used to go by a different name...mwdegutis.

I had the same problem. I got thrown off and snuck in under this name but got thrown off again. In Admin's infinite "mercy" he let me back in and asked which name I wanted to use so I said this one. Admin doesn't like us saying the truth.

Can you prove that? Of course, you can't. You're an unfortunate victim of the Dunning Kruger effect. I bet you don't even know what means. Go ahead and look it up before you reply. It might save you some embarrassment. Then again, maybe not.
