If schools are opened. Why work when they get a check every month for working when they aren't. A lot of bucks without the bang. All shoud be fired that do not report to the classroom. I object paying personnel who do not work. Fract that! The American Pop has become insensitive to being ripped off by teachers. They love having a no sweat job with 3 months annual vacations, 2 weeks @ Christmas even tho they don't believe, a week @ Easter even tho they don't believe, a week at Thanksginving tho they don't believe and @ their convention 2 weeks ago they omitted God from the pledge. Taxpayers are fools to donate their income to teachers and their unions. Democrats have given me forceful pushback on my opinion. Why should they ever return to the classroom. Coronavirus may have demonstrated that teachers are not necessary because they are advociates of online learning. They say it works;I say "they are fired." Job eliminated."

As a former teacher, I would never put my family's health and lives in danger without safety protocols being strictly enforced. How could we ask teachers with families to expose themselves to covid infection? I have heard of several talented teachers that have resigned rather than risk spreading disease to family at home.

We have put many individual's & family's in harm's way, the healthcare industry does it EVERYDAY! Police, firefighters, Walmart & Target employees, Home Depot employees, Government workers, postal workers, the list goes on & on! Why do teachers think they should have some SPECIAL PRIVILEGE?? Teachers are essential workers, just like many others!

Teachers are actually very lucky due to reason that children statistical have the LOWEST percentage of cases of any other group! Their chance of exposure to the disease is therefore much LESS than many other essential workers who mostly work with adults! Their exposure is extremely less that healthcare workers in nursing-homes, elderly care-takers & others who work exclusively with the elderly population...yet they go to work everyday, regardless of the risk!

Why should their Union protect them, other unions are not fighting to keep their workers from working, most unions are fighting to be sure their members can KEEP working! Who the heck do these people think they are trying to make special demands tied to their jobs?

If a teacher wants to resign, bye bye! Most of the educational statistics tell us USA schools are way behind other European and Asian nations...maybe we should start reconsidering our educational system and DO AWAY with the Teacher's Unions, they seem to be doing more harm than good for our children!!

It's always the unions, conseratives love to blame unions for every little thing, thing is teachers put up with your brat kids, their people's babysitters,,now with this virus they are pushed into being nurses which they are not trained. Most teachers pay alot of money out of their pocket for school supplies, why they do it who knows I guess they care about their kids. It's not just teachers unions that conseratives hate it's all unions, you want to do away with all of the unions,,you think because people pay some dues to unions to have some body to represent the working person .You hate unions because they might give money to democrates, there's a reason for that ,but as unions fall the republicans get what they want ,less pay less benfits,. Since 1978 Ceo pay has gone up 1167 %,workers pay has gone up an astonishing amount rom 3 to 14%,this is what you get when you kill unions and let business buy your goverment. What happens when ceo pay goes up 2500 %,.Why is it we have the most working poor we have ever had in this country?

CEOs get paid relative to their skills @ making money. Teachers are a totally different animal. They have the softest job in the world and get paid a lot of money for it. Some may open their purse for a few pennies, but, they still milk the gravey train of tax payer's salary. Let the internet be the backbone of the edu of the future. Tax payers would no longer have to pay salaries and pensions. Teachers get a real job.

The unions are no angels in disguise. Just take a look at the cars they buy themselves on the outrageous union dues. They no longer do enough for the workers. And....you're so right on the CEOs. There should be some rule/law in place for the worker to get a certain percentage raise every time the CEO gets his .....what could we call it? It's so much more than just a raise. Anyway...every time he gets it, it should be required that the real workers in the company get a certain percentage as well. After all, they're the ones doing all the work to keep the company going. This would make the average worker start catching up. The CEO gets more than he can spend in a lifetime and the real worker gets a turkey at Thanksgiving..(if that).

If I don’t work, I don’t get paid.
Teachers should be the same.

I don't think I'd call it the softest job in the world. I know I wouldn't want to have to deal with some of the kids they have to handle. But, I know what you mean in some ways.

Schools in GA have re-opened. No one has died. Maybe it's because these same kids have been playing with each other, soccer, basketball and what have you, running in and out of each others' houses and having birthday and other parties without a sign of a mask or social distancing all damn summer long. Georgia has had some 4500 Covid related deaths, although almost all had underlying conditions. Less than ten were under 16. Out of some 1.7 million students.
This county has some 58,000 residents. Six have died of "Covid." In reality, every one of them was elderly and had underlying health problems that would have killed them anyway. No one died from just Covid.

You have apparently not heard the news that the CDC released. Out of all the deaths in this country, less than ten thousand were from Covid alone. If you Google the overall death rate for this country for the past four months of this year and last year they are virtually the same.
